Ronaldo Cannot Influence Saudi Pro League Decisions Outside Al-Nassr
The Saudi Pro League has clarified that Cristiano Ronaldo, the Portuguese superstar currently playing for Al-Nassr, does not have authority over league-wide decisions, addressing recent speculation about his potential influence beyond his club.
League representatives stated that while Ronaldo’s presence has significantly boosted the league’s profile, increased global viewership, and attracted major sponsorship deals, all operational, administrative, and regulatory decisions remain the responsibility of league authorities.
“This is to ensure transparency and fairness across all teams,” a league spokesperson said. “Cristiano Ronaldo is a world-class player whose impact on his club and the league’s reputation is undeniable, but he cannot influence league policies, team allocations, or governance decisions.”

The clarification comes after rumors circulated on social media suggesting Ronaldo could affect league regulations, broadcasting arrangements, or transfer policies. Officials were keen to dispel such claims, emphasizing that his role is limited to on-field performance and commercial influence, not league administration.
Ronaldo joined Al-Nassr in 2023, and his presence has been instrumental in raising the global profile of Saudi football, drawing international attention, enhancing fan engagement, and improving commercial partnerships. However, league authorities made it clear that these benefits are reputational and financial, not managerial.
The Saudi Pro League continues to promote fair competition, transparency, and structured governance, while recognizing the contribution of high-profile players like Ronaldo in expanding the league’s global footprint. Fans and observers are reminded that all league policies are determined by official regulatory bodies, ensuring that decisions are impartial and consistent.
