Ronaldo named best player of all time
Cristiano Ronaldo has been honoured with the “Best of All Time” award by the Portuguese Football League, recognising his work ethics and brilliance on the pitch.
Ronaldo, who is the highest scorer in men’s international football with 141 goals in 223 appearances for Portugal, has added another accolade to his feathers.
On Tuesday, Ronaldo became the joint-top goalscorer in World Cup qualifying history in Portugal’s 3-2 victory over Hungary.
The Portuguese Football League praised Ronaldo’s influence in football, describing him as an idol to millions.
The statement read: “An idol to millions, he defined an era and will leave an indelible mark on world football. CR7 was honoured with the “Best of All Time” award, a fitting recognition for the golden pages he continues to write in his career.
“Recognised for his work ethic, competitiveness, and decisiveness in crucial moments, Cristiano Ronaldo’s impact goes far beyond statistics.
“Between individual records, collective titles, and media influence, he built a legacy that places him as… The Best Ever.”

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner was unable to attend the award ceremony but he expressed his gratitude to the organisers in a video clip on his social media account on Thursday.
He said: “I want to thank the League for this award for best player of all time. As you can imagine for me it’s a huge honour to win something for my country.
“I’d like to thank all my teammates who helped me throughout my career win this wonderful trophy, the coaches, and everyone who helped me become even better.”
Ronaldo started his career at Sporting Lisbon in the Portuguese League before moving to Manchester United in 2003.
He has gone on to represent the likes of Real Madrid, Juventus, and he currently plies his trade in Saudi Arabia, playing for Al Nassr.
He made his Portugal debut at the age of 18, and he has earned more than 250 caps, making him the most-capped male player. He has played in eleven major tournaments.
Ronaldo has won 34 senior career trophies for club and country, including 5 Champions League titles, 1 European Championship, and 1 UEFA Nations League title. He is one of the most decorated footballers in history.
He also holds the record for most goals in the UEFA Champions League (140 goals), and the record for most goals in the UEFA European Championship (14).
He has scored a record 943 senior career goals for club and country.
Ronaldo is one of the only five players to have made over 1,250 professional career appearances.
