SAGLEV Tops BYD, Wuling to Win 2025 NAJA EV Brand of the Year
SAGLEV has been named 2025 Nigeria Electric Vehicle (EV) Brand of the Year by the Nigeria Auto Journalists Association (NAJA), reinforcing its status as a leading force in the country’s rapidly expanding electric mobility market.
The keenly contested award, which also featured global brands BYD and Wuling, was presented on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at the Oriental Hotel, Lagos, during a high-profile industry ceremony attended by key automotive stakeholders and government regulators.
The event underscored the growing momentum behind Nigeria’s clean transportation drive, with notable dignitaries in attendance, including the Director-General of the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), Otunba Oluwemimo Joseph Osanipin, and a representative of the Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Shehu Mohammed (mni)—a signal of rising policy and regulatory focus on sustainable mobility.
NAJA jurors attributed SAGLEV’s win to its early entry into Nigeria’s EV space, expanding local assembly operations, and its emphasis on affordable, fit-for-purpose electric vehicles tailored to Nigerian road and operating conditions.

The company’s growing investments in after-sales support, charging infrastructure partnerships, and alignment with national automotive and energy transition policies also set it apart.
SAGLEV is a Nigerian electric vehicle company involved in the assembly and distribution of EVs, including passenger cars and light commercial vehicles.
The brand has consistently positioned itself around local value addition, skills development, and close collaboration with government institutions to accelerate EV adoption nationwide.
Reacting to the recognition, Dr Gbenga Faleye, Chief Executive Officer of SAGLEV Electromobility Nigeria Limited, described the award as both an honour and a call to greater responsibility.
“This award affirms our conviction that Nigeria is ready for electric mobility solutions that are practical, locally relevant and sustainable,” Faleye said.
“We dedicate this recognition to our team, our partners, and policymakers who are helping to create an enabling environment for EVs. SAGLEV remains committed to deepening local assembly, expanding charging support, and making electric vehicles accessible to more Nigerians.”
As Nigeria advances its broader energy transition, with electric vehicles and compressed natural gas (CNG) gaining traction, SAGLEV’s NAJA honour highlights growing confidence in indigenous brands to turn policy ambition into real, on-road electric mobility solutions.
