Sanwo-Olu appoints ex-Lagos Chief VIO, Toriola, 10 others permanent secretaries

The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has appointed a former Director of the Vehicle Inspection Service (VIS), Gbolahan Toriola, and 10 other directors as permanent secretaries for Ministries, Department, and Agencies (MDAs) in the state.
Among the 10 others were two former directors appointed as Tutors-General/Permanent Secretaries and while the eight others were from MDAs from the Lagos state public service.
As gathered, the appointment was made barely 24 hours after the appointees were made to face the governor for an oral screening exercise that lasted for several hours at the State House in Ikeja.
The appointment of Toriola and the 10 others were confirmed by the Head of Service (HoS), Hakeem Muri-Okunola, in a statement signed and made available to newsmen on Thursday.
Muri-Okunola said that the appointees were picked from the pool of qualified candidates based on their competence in the task ahead.
He expressed confidence that the new appointees who had emerged from a field of intelligent and qualified Officers possess the qualities, competencies, and experience required to serve as Permanent Secretaries in the Lagos State Public Service.
The two directors from Education District III and IV appointed by the governor as Tutors-General/Permanent Secretaries were Olufunke Oyetola and Olawale Osinaike.
Before Toriola’s appointment, he was the Director of Mechanical at the Ministry of Transportation, the position he held after leaving the VIS, where he introduced several measures to reduce gridlock in the state.
Others were Director, Administration & Human Resource, Public Service Office, Oyegbola Mopileola; Director, Finance and Accounts, Ministry of Transportation, Dawodu Arinola; Director, Administration, and Human Resource, Ministry of Health, Abidakun Ajibola and Director, Administration & Human Resource, Office of Establishments & Training, Aina, Ololade Olasupo.
Also appointed, General Manager, Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA), Kasunmu Olufolake; Director, Public Affairs, Ministry of Information & Strategy, Sogunle Olumide; Director, Civil, Ministry of Housing, Sotire Olumide; and Director, Planning, Ministry of Economic Planning & Budget, Obajomo Amodu.
He disclosed that the swearing-in ceremony for all the appointees would take place on Friday 9th September, 2022, while the deployments would be announced in due course.
