Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has secured a second term of four years, winning last Saturday’s governorship election with 762,134 votes
He defeated his closest rival, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour of the Labour Party with a wide margin of 449,805 votes.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Sanwo-Olu as the winner of the Lagos election at a few minutes past 1am on Monday.
Rhodes-Vivour however rejected the result. He insisted he won the election.
Announcing the result at the Lagos headquarters of INEC, Oladiji Adenike, the returning officer for the election, said Sanwo-Olu polled 762,134 votes.
The LP came second with 312,329 votes, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) came third with 62,449 votes.
A total of 1,182,620 voters were accredited, while 1,155,678 votes were declared valid.
With the INEC declaration, Sanwo-Olu has secured a second term as governor of Lagos.
