Scores of Bandits Killed as Police, Military Launch Joint Security Operation in Kogi
The Kogi State Police Command has announced the killing of scores of bandits and the dismantling of their criminal networks during a renewed security operation across the state.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the command’s spokesperson, SP William Aya, said the success was recorded through an ongoing joint operation involving the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigerian military, with aerial support from the Nigeria Police Force Air Wing.
According to Aya, the sustained offensive against banditry has led to significant breakthroughs, although the precise locations of the operations were not disclosed for security reasons.
“The ongoing onslaught against bandit operations in Kogi State by the joint police and military has yielded fruitful results. Bandits were flushed out, their networks dislodged, and scores were neutralised,” he said.

He added that the operation, carried out with professionalism and commitment, was reinforced by precision air strikes from the Police Air Wing, contributing to the successful neutralisation of the criminal elements.
The Kogi Police Command urged residents to remain vigilant and to promptly report anyone with gunshot wounds, visible injuries, or suspicious behaviour to the nearest police station.
Members of the public were also encouraged to support the ongoing anti-banditry operation by providing credible intelligence on criminal activities within their communities.
“Security is a shared responsibility. Together, we can make Nigeria better,” Aya stated.
He further released the command’s emergency control room numbers—07038329084 and 08152195982—for reporting suspicious movements across the state.
