Senate summons service chiefs over insecurity
The Senate has summoned service chiefs to appear before it next week to speak on lasting solutions to the widespread insecurity in the country.
The invitation followed a motion “Spate of insecurity in Nigeria” sponsored by all 109 senators during plenary on Tuesday.
Senate Leader, Opeyemi Bamidele, presented the motion, saying, “The Senate notes with sadness the rising spate of killings, kidnappings, banditry and other criminal activities in the nation.”
The Red Chamber, thereafter, resolved to invoke its earlier resolutions to invite the security chiefs for an interactive session with a view to addressing the menace.
Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, said the outcome of the meeting would be discussed with President Bola Tinubu for prompt implementation.
