Renewed Boko Haram-ISWAP Clashes in Sambisa Forest
Several people have been killed after suspected Boko Haram insurgents attacked construction workers repairing a bridge in Borno State, in a fresh assault that has heightened security concerns in Nigeria’s North-East.
The attack occurred while the workers were carrying out bridge rehabilitation work on a strategic route linking communities and supporting the movement of motorists, traders, and humanitarian workers. Sources said the assailants arrived at the site and launched a sudden attack, causing panic and casualties among the workers.
Eyewitnesses said the attackers targeted the construction site during active work hours, forcing survivors to flee into nearby bushes. Several workers were killed, while others sustained injuries before security forces arrived at the scene.
