Super Eagles winger, Moses Simon has stated ensuring that Nigeria go as far as possible remained his main objective and that he is not moved by individual awards after he was named the Most Valuable Player in the team’s 3-1 win over Sudan at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
The Nantes striker’s performance earned him Man of the Match award, but the Nantes star praised his teammates at the Post Match Press Conference attended by our correspondent.
“I’m happy to win this award, it’s nice to be named the best player on the night,” Moses Simon said. “The award is not for me alone, it’s for the entire team. The most important thing is that we won and I’m happy about it.”

Meanwhile, Nigeria High Commissioner to Cameroon, Abayomi Olorunsakin has urged the Super Eagles to maintain the momentum and hand Nigeria her fourth AFCON title at Cameroon 2021.
The Super Eagles have won several admirers following two wins recorded so far in Cameroon with victories over Egypt and Sudan.
“I am happy with the way the Super Eagles have performed so far. If they carry the zeal into other matches they would come out tops,” Olorunsakin noted.
“Nigeria and Cameroon are brothers and next neighbours. The support that we desire from the Cameroonians has been remarkable from the first match against Egypt.
“Prior to that, we were in Garoua to sensitize the Nigerian Community on the need to come out and support the Super Eagles. The mandate for us is to win the title and we believe that the Super Eagles won’t disappoint us.”
