Suspected ‘Boko Haram’ members kill Imam, vigilante in Borno
Boko Haram insurgents are suspected of killing the Chief Imam of Kaga, Imam Goni Muktar, and a vigilante in Borno State’s Kaga Local Government Area.
At before 12:30 a.m. on Monday, rebels in a Volkswagen Golf assaulted the imam’s apartment in Malamti, a suburb of Benishek.
According to a source within the Civilian Joint Task Force, the mode of operation was solely that of insurgents.

“On the night of Sunday, some gunmen suspected to be members of Boko Haram stormed the house of the Chief Imam of Kaga LGA Imam, Goni Muktar and killed him.
“One of the vigilantes on duty was forcefully taken away by the attackers. This is the second chief imam that was killed in Kaga within two months,” he said.
According to the Civilian JTF, the root cause of the incident could not be immediately ascertained, but the late imam would be buried today.
