Suspected looters of goods from moving Lagos truck arrested
Operatives of the Lagos State Rapid Response Squad (RRS) have arrested a 47-year-old man, Taiwo Hassan, for allegedly stealing goods from a moving truck in transit out of Lagos.
Hassan was nabbed around 2:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 6, in the Costain area while allegedly offloading stolen items into a separate vehicle.
The arrest followed weeks of intelligence-led surveillance targeting a syndicate linked to systematic thefts from cargo trucks, especially along the Apapa port corridor.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Hassan belongs to a criminal gang that specialises in stealing goods from trucks in motion or momentarily halted in traffic.
The items are typically transferred swiftly into getaway vehicles without the knowledge of the truck drivers.
Recovered from the suspect’s Toyota Sienna vehicle at the scene were 10 cartons of Top Café 3-in-1 coffee, seven Littmann Classic II stethoscopes, medical textbooks, doctors’ manuals, and two pouches containing surgical theatre kits.
His accomplice, identified as Sheriff, escaped upon spotting police operatives.
Confirming the arrest, RRS Commander, CSP Shola Jejeloye, said the suspect will be arraigned in court, while efforts are underway to apprehend the fleeing accomplice and dismantle the rest of the criminal network.
