Third Mainland Bridge to be closed for 24-hour – FG

The Federal Government says motorists will not be able to use some sections of the busy Third Mainland Bridge for a day as vehicular activities will be halted.

Mrs Olukorede Kesha, the Federal Controller of Works, Lagos State, said the closure of the bridge for 24-hour will start from midnight on Sunday, February 18 to midnight on Monday, February 19.

In a statement on Saturday night, she said the temporary closure will affect Iyana Oworonshoki-Lagos Island-bound traffic.

She disclosed that the emergency measure followed the government’s decision to fix an important section of the bridge undergoing comprehensive repairs.

She said motorists coming out of the Island and heading towards Oworonshoki would have full access to the bridge throughout the 24-hour closure.
