Three Escape Death as Dangote Truck Collides With Commercial Bus on Lagos Expressway
At least three passengers narrowly escaped death after a Dangote truck collided with a commercial Mazda bus on the Lagos–Badagry Expressway, highlighting ongoing concerns over road safety in Lagos State. The accident occurred at the Mosafejo–Aradagun axis on Tuesday when the truck driver attempted an unauthorised U‑turn on the busy expressway, causing a head-on collision with the oncoming bus.
According to the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), the reckless maneuver by the truck driver directly led to the crash. Three male passengers sustained serious injuries but survived the potentially fatal accident.

Emergency responders, including LASTMA and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), promptly arrived at the scene to assist victims and restore traffic flow. The injured passengers were evacuated to a nearby General Hospital for urgent medical attention, while the truck driver was apprehended at the scene by LASTMA operatives.
Authorities noted that illegal U-turns and reckless driving by heavy commercial vehicles remain a major cause of accidents on Lagos’ arterial roads. The Lagos–Badagry Expressway, one of the state’s busiest corridors, regularly experiences heavy traffic, making strict adherence to traffic regulations critical for motorists’ safety.
Although no fatalities were reported in this incident, it underscores the urgent need for improved road safety enforcement, public awareness campaigns, and compliance with traffic laws to prevent further accidents involving commercial trucks and passenger buses.
