Tinubu Names Federal University of Health Sciences, Azare, After Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi
BAUCHI — President Bola Tinubu has approved the renaming of the Federal University of Health Sciences, Azare, in Bauchi State, in honour of the late Islamic scholar Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi. The announcement came during the President’s condolence visit to the family of the revered cleric on Saturday.
Speaking during the visit, President Tinubu lauded Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi for a lifetime devoted to the service of God, humanity, and the Nigerian nation, describing him as a distinguished Islamic scholar and moral guide whose teachings on honesty, integrity, and upright character influenced generations of Nigerians.

The President arrived at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa International Airport around 4:50 pm and was received by Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang, ministers, and senior government officials.
Among the ministers present were Foreign Affairs Minister Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar and Health Minister Professor Muhammad Ali Pate, along with other dignitaries. The presidential entourage also included Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajuddeen Abbas and Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni, among others.
The renaming of the university underscores the federal government’s recognition of Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi’s significant contributions to Islamic scholarship and national development, cementing his legacy in Nigeria’s educational and religious history.
