Tragedy in Aramoko: Trailer Rams Residential Building, Kills 300‑Level Student

Aramoko, Ekiti State — Friday, March 27, 2026 — A devastating accident claimed the life of a university student on Thursday afternoon in the Aramoko area of Ekiti West Local Government Area. A heavy‑duty trailer reportedly lost control and ploughed into a residential building, leaving the occupant dead and parts of the structure badly damaged.

According to early reports, the victim — a 300‑level undergraduate who had returned home for the school break — was inside the house when the trailer smashed through the wall on March 26. The student was reportedly resting at the time and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Eyewitnesses told journalists and bystanders that the trailer veered off the main road and struck the property with tremendous force, causing significant structural damage and sending neighbours rushing to help. Portions of the building were described as partially destroyed, and debris was scattered around the compound.

Residents at the scene said emergency responders and local authorities arrived shortly after the crash to assess the situation, clear debris, and begin investigations. Police and other officials are working to determine the exact cause of the accident, including whether mechanical failure, speeding or driver error played a role.

The tragic incident has shocked the close‑knit Aramoko community, with neighbours and schoolmates mourning the loss of a promising youth. Messages of condolence have been shared across social media platforms, as residents call for improved road safety and stricter enforcement of traffic regulations on major routes connecting towns like Aramoko in Ekiti West.

No official statement has yet been released by the Ekiti State government or the Federal Road Safety Corps, but authorities say they will provide updates as the investigation continues.
