Twitter restores Trump suspended account

Published

Twitter has reinstated the account of Donald Trump, former US president.

The account was restored after Elon Musk, Twitter CEO and new owner, posted a poll on Twitter on Friday asking the platform’s users if Trump should be reinstated.

The final poll results on Saturday showed 51.8 percent voted in favour and 48.2 percent opposed the reinstatement. The poll had over 15 million votes.

“The people have spoken. Trump will be reinstated,” Musk tweeted after the poll result.

Trump’s Twitter account was banned in January 2021 following the post-2020 presidential election crisis, where a mob of his supporters attacked the Capitol in Washington, D.C.

Trump is yet to tweet or comment on the reinstatement.

The development is coming days after the former president announced that he will seek the Republican presidential nomination in 2024. During his term at the White House, Trump used Twitter as a key messaging platform to engage with several controversial tweets.

Trump is the target of multiple investigations into his conduct before, during and after his first term as president.

These include allegations of fraud by his family business, his role in last year’s attack on the US Capitol, his attempt to overturn the 2020 elections, and the stashing of classified documents at his residence at Mar-a-Lago.

Many observers, including some Republicans, have questioned whether the former president is the right candidate for the party.

Phyna Says She Prefers Raising Pets Over Having Children

Josephina “Phyna” Otabor, winner of Big Brother Naija Season 7, has said she currently prefers raising pets instead of having children, explaining that her views on motherhood have changed as she grows older.

The reality TV star made the comments during a recent livestream, where she spoke openly about relationships, emotional experiences, and her personal outlook on family life.

Phyna, 28, said she is not focused on having children at this stage of her life, adding that she is comfortable with her current lifestyle. “I am not big on wanting to have a child, though. I am very fertile, in case you are thinking that way. I just want to be mum to a cat and a dog,” she said.

She suggested that some women develop a stronger emotional bond with pets as they get older, especially after experiencing heartbreak or relationship challenges.

“I think the love for animals in women kicks in when you are approaching your 30s—some of them mid-30s, late 30s. Especially when you do not see yourself settling down,” she added.

According to her, repeated emotional experiences in relationships can influence how some women redirect their nurturing instincts toward animals rather than children.

“Maybe you have been through too many broken relationships. Women start to develop a likeness for pets. I think I am in that stage,” she said.

Phyna also hinted that she is not currently focused on settling down in a traditional family structure, reinforcing her preference for companionship through pets at this stage of her life.

The former BBNaija winner has remained in the public spotlight since her rise to fame, frequently sharing personal opinions on relationships, lifestyle choices, and independence.

In earlier interviews, she also spoke about undergoing a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) procedure and openly documented her recovery process with fans on social media.

Her latest comments have sparked widespread reactions online, with some praising her honesty about personal choices, while others debated her views on relationships and motherhood.

Blessing CEO Returns to Instagram, Deletes Cancer Claim Posts

Controversial Nigerian social media influencer, Blessing Okoro Nkiruka, popularly known as Blessing CEO, has returned to Instagram weeks after deactivating her account following widespread backlash over her claim that she was battling stage four breast cancer.

A check on her verified page shows that the influencer has now deleted all posts related to the alleged diagnosis, including videos, interviews, and fundraising content that were previously used to support her claim.

The controversy began in January 2026 when Blessing CEO publicly announced that she had been diagnosed with stage four breast cancer, appealing for financial assistance from the public. She also shared what she described as a medical report to back her claim.

However, the development took a turn after Xinus Medical Diagnostics reportedly disputed the authenticity of the document, alleging that it had been altered. The medical facility claimed the report originally belonged to another individual and was not issued to the influencer.

READ ALSO:

The alleged original owner of the medical record, a makeup artist and cancer survivor identified as Deborah Mbara, later spoke out, accusing Blessing CEO of using her medical documents without consent.

Following the controversy, Mbara’s family reportedly petitioned the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), accusing the influencer of fraudulent fundraising, forgery, and cyber-related offences, and alleging that over ₦300 million may have been raised from the public under false pretences.

The Nigerian Cancer Society also called for a thorough investigation into the matter, urging authorities to ensure transparency and accountability in all public fundraising linked to health conditions.

Blessing CEO subsequently deactivated her Instagram account as the backlash intensified. However, she has now reactivated the account, though all cancer-related posts have been removed, leaving only a documentary-style awareness post on breast health.

As of the time of filing this report, the influencer has not issued any fresh public statement addressing the allegations or explaining the deletion of the posts following her return to social media.

The situation continues to generate debate online, raising concerns about online fundraising transparency, influencer accountability, and medical misinformation in Nigeria’s digital space.
