U.S. KC‑135 Stratotanker Crashes in Iraq, Four Crew Dead 

A U.S. Air Force KC‑135 Stratotanker refueling aircraft crashed in western Iraq on March 12, 2026, killing four of its six crew members, the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed. This incident marks the fourth U.S. military aircraft lost during the ongoing 2026 Iran war, following the downing of three F‑15 fighter jets in Kuwait earlier this month, in which all crew members survived.

Despite claims by an Iran-backed Iraqi militia suggesting responsibility, U.S. officials emphasized the crash was not linked to combat activity. The identities of the deceased personnel have been withheld until next of kin are notified.
