U.S. Military Hits Nearly 6,000 Targets in Iran Since Conflict Began
The United States military has carried out extensive operations against Iran, striking nearly 6,000 targets since the conflict between the two countries began, according to a report by CBS News on March 12, 2026.
The report, citing officials from United States Central Command, said American forces have conducted thousands of strikes on Iranian military infrastructure and associated assets as part of ongoing operations aimed at weakening Iran’s military capabilities.
According to the officials, the targets include missile launch sites, weapons storage facilities, military bases, radar installations, and naval assets believed to be linked to Iran’s defence network. The large-scale operations are part of a broader campaign by the United States Armed Forces to degrade Iran’s ability to launch missile and drone attacks across the region.

The conflict has escalated rapidly in recent weeks, with both sides exchanging military strikes and threats. Analysts say the scale of the U.S. operations marks one of the most significant American military campaigns in the Middle East in recent years.
Officials say the strikes have involved a combination of air power, naval assets, and precision-guided weapons targeting strategic sites believed to support Iran’s military operations. However, details about specific locations and the full extent of the damage have not been publicly disclosed.
Iranian authorities have condemned the attacks, describing them as violations of its sovereignty and warning that Tehran will continue to defend itself against what it calls foreign aggression.
The escalating confrontation has heightened tensions across the region, raising fears of a wider conflict that could draw in additional countries and destabilise the Middle East.
Security analysts warn that the continued exchange of strikes between the United States and Iran could further complicate diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions and restoring stability in the region.
