Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has been sworn in as the 16th president of Nigeria in Abuja.

Tinubu took the oath of office around 10:38am on Monday at the Eagles Square as administered by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Olukayode Ariwoola.

The moment Tinubu was called to take his oath of office, the entire Eagle Square erupted in joy.

His supporters rendered the popular anthem, “On your mandate we shall stand.”

Former President, Muhammadu Buhari, was with Tinubu as he took his oath.

His wife, Oluremi was at his side during his coronation.

Earlier, Senator Kashim Shettima was sworn-in as the new Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

He took the oath of office around 10:30am.

Tinubu later inspected the Guards of Honour and took his first salute as he toured the Eagle Square on a motorcade.

He waved and acknowledged cheers from dignitaries present at the inauguration venue.
