The six-man tribunal of inquiry, set up by the Lagos State Government to investigate the collapse of the 21-storey building situated at 44 BCD Gerrard Road at Ikoyi, submitted its report on Wednesday.
The building collapsed on November 1, 2021, killing the owner and 44 others.
The chairman of the tribunal, TPl. Toyin Ayinde, who submitted report to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, said building collapse was rooted in the collapse of values, morals and ethics which must be worked on as a nation.
He stressed the need to restore ethics and diligence, saying, “we cannot sow the wind and not expect to reap the whirlwind.”

He said the tribunal coordinated the activities of the consultants who conducted tests on the site, received and reviewed documents from relevant MDAs, conducted 35 interview sessions, interrogated 91 persons, requested and received 21 memoranda, and accessed the home of the late C.E.O. of Fourscore Heights Limited, Mr. Olufemi Osibona, to gather information to support the fact-finding mission.
He prayed the government to implement the report to end building collapse, not only in Lagos State but nationwide.
As a step to implement the report, Sanwo-Olu set up a four-man committee headed by the Commissioner for Special Duties, Tayo Bamgbose-Martins, to study report and bring forward a report to be considered by the State Executive Council.
The governor commended members of the panel for their commitment and quick response to the assignment given to them.
