Wike tells FCT principals to stop welcoming him with students
Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has issued a stern warning to school principals against releasing students to line up for welcoming ceremonies during his visits.
The minister made the statement on Tuesday, November 3, 2024, while commissioning the construction of a 9.8-kilometre road from Kabusa to Takushara at Government Secondary School Kabusa.
Wike expressed displeasure at the sight of students leaving their classrooms to welcome him, emphasizing that such practices are unproductive and unacceptable.

He directed school administrators to focus on students’ education and welfare instead of ceremonial protocols.
“It is not in our culture, and this will be the last time to see this happen. Nobody should bring students out of their school to line up on the road.
“We will not accept that any longer. Our children deserve the best,” Wike stated.
