Yamal Makes History With Third Consecutive Young Player Award at 2026 Ballon d’Or

Barcelona and Spain forward Lamine Yamal has won the Men’s Young Talent of the Year award at the 2026 Ballon d’Or ceremony, extending his remarkable run of success in the category to three consecutive years.

The 19-year-old received the honour at the ceremony held at the London Palladium in England on Monday, October 26, 2026. The award recognises his outstanding performances and continued development among the world’s most promising footballers.

Yamal, who plays for Barcelona and the Spanish national team, was also among the contenders for the main Men’s Ballon d’Or award after another impressive campaign.

However, the top individual prize went to Bayern Munich and England striker Harry Kane, who finished ahead of Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappé and Yamal in the final rankings.

Yamal finished third in the men’s Ballon d’Or standings, underlining his position among the leading players in world football despite his young age.

According to UEFA’s announcement of the winners, Yamal was named Men’s Young Talent of the Year, while Kane claimed the main award. The ceremony marked the first time the Ballon d’Or awards were held in London.

Reacting to his latest young-player accolade, Yamal reportedly suggested that the award could have gone to his Barcelona and Spain teammate Pau Cubarsí, highlighting the strength of young talent within the club’s squad.

Yamal’s latest achievement further strengthens his growing reputation in European football, where his attacking ability, creativity and performances for Barcelona and Spain have attracted considerable attention.

The 2026 ceremony also saw Spain’s Vicky López win the women’s young talent award, while other honours recognised achievements by players, coaches and clubs across men’s and women’s football.
