Yobe Police Arrest Man for Drugging, Raping Teenage Girl
The Yobe State Police Command has arrested a 35-year-old man for allegedly drugging and raping a 16-year-old girl in Potiskum Local Government Area, reinforcing efforts to tackle gender-based violence and protect minors.
The suspect, Aliyu Yarima, was apprehended by officers from the Tarmuwa Divisional Police Headquarters after the victim’s family reported the incident. According to police, Yarima allegedly lured the teenager with a sedative-laced drink before assaulting her at his residence.

The victim was rushed to General Hospital, Babbangida, where a medical examination confirmed the assault. The suspect is currently in custody as authorities continue their investigation and prepare to press formal charges in court.
The Yobe police condemned the alleged crime, urging the public to report sexual abuse and child exploitation cases immediately. Officials emphasized their commitment to protecting vulnerable persons and prosecuting offenders to the full extent of the law.
This case comes amid growing concerns about sexual violence against minors in Yobe State and across Nigeria, highlighting the importance of community vigilance and collaboration with law enforcement.
