Mohbad’s Widow Claims Father-In-Law Wants Liam’s DNA Result To Fail
Mohbad’s Widow Claims Father-In-Law Wants Liam’s DNA Result To Fail
’s widow, , has alleged that her father-in-law, , wants the DNA test involving her son, Liam, to return a negative result.
Omowunmi made the allegation during a now-viral interview on Channels Television, where she opened up about the lingering family crisis surrounding the late singer’s death, paternity controversy and disputes over properties and royalties.
According to her, the misunderstanding between both families did not begin after Mohbad’s death but had existed long before the singer died on September 12, 2023.
“Yeah, we used to be best of friends. So I think we fell out, I think it was after I had my child,” she said during the interview.
She explained that issues surrounding Liam’s naming ceremony and unresolved family disagreements created tension between her husband and his parents.
“It was after I had Liam, because of the naming ceremony issues, and the fact that my husband forgave his mother. It was just a family feud that became something very big,” she stated.
Omowunmi added that many social media users wrongly assumed the conflict only started after Mohbad’s death.
“A lot of people online feel like it’s all about the demise of my husband. But in reality, it is because of the family feud that we had before the demise of my husband,” she said.

The widow also claimed that shortly after Mohbad died, discussions with her father-in-law focused more on the singer’s assets and royalties instead of emotional support for the grieving family.
“I literally placed a call to him because I was tense and scared. He wasn’t saying what I needed to hear. He was just talking about my husband’s property and all of that,” she alleged.
Speaking further on the controversy surrounding Liam’s paternity, Omowunmi insisted that Joseph Aloba was expecting the DNA result to challenge the child’s relationship with the late singer.
“What he actually wants can never happen. He actually wants the DNA of my child to be negative,” she said.
The paternity issue has remained one of the major controversies surrounding Mohbad’s death, with Joseph Aloba repeatedly demanding a DNA test to confirm whether Liam is truly his late son’s child before the singer’s final burial arrangements are concluded.
In previous public appearances and interviews, Joseph Aloba questioned delays surrounding the DNA process and maintained that it was necessary to settle ongoing doubts and public debates.
However, Omowunmi has consistently stated that she is not opposed to the DNA test and has nothing to hide regarding Liam’s paternity.
The late singer’s widow also admitted during the interview that the dispute between both families may have reached a point where reconciliation appears unlikely.
“It has really got to a point that I don’t think this whole family feud can’t be settled anymore,” she stated emotionally.
Mohbad’s death at the age of 27 triggered nationwide outrage and widespread calls for justice, with fans, celebrities and civil society groups demanding a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding his passing.
In February 2025, the Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecutions reportedly cleared singer , music promoter and others of direct involvement in Mohbad’s death, stating that available evidence did not establish criminal liability against them.
However, the controversy surrounding the singer’s death, family disagreements and the DNA debate involving Liam has continued to generate intense discussions on social media and in the entertainment industry.

13 Killed As Terrorists Launch Fresh Midnight Attack In Plateau
Residents of Plateau State have again been thrown into mourning after suspected terrorists launched a deadly midnight attack on Ngbra Zongo hamlet in Kwall District of Bassa Local Government Area, killing at least 13 people and injuring several others.
The attack reportedly occurred around 12 a.m. on Friday when heavily armed assailants stormed the community, shooting sporadically and attacking residents with machetes and other dangerous weapons.
Eyewitnesses said the attackers moved from house to house during the invasion, forcing terrified villagers to flee into nearby bushes to avoid being killed.
A resident of the community, Philip Alanga, described the attack as terrifying and brutal.
“They came into the community around midnight and started shooting and hacking people to death.
“They moved from one house to another, attacking innocent people,” he said.
According to local sources, several residents sustained varying degrees of injuries during the assault, while homes and properties were also affected as panic spread across the area.

Another resident, Chigoji Rocku, disclosed that three pregnant women were among those killed during the attack, worsening the grief and outrage among community members.
The Secretary General of the Irigwe Development Association (IDA), Danjuma Auta, confirmed the killings and condemned the repeated attacks on communities in Bassa Local Government Area and other parts of Plateau State.
Auta described the incident as unfortunate and barbaric, calling on security agencies to urgently strengthen surveillance and improve protection for vulnerable rural communities.
He also urged security operatives to identify those behind the killings and ensure justice is served to prevent further violence in the state.
The latest attack adds to the growing insecurity in Plateau State, where communities in Bassa, Bokkos, Riyom and Barkin Ladi local government areas have suffered repeated deadly attacks in recent months.
In April, gunmen reportedly attacked Mbwelle village in Bokkos Local Government Area, killing eight people, including members of the same family, while several others sustained injuries.
The recurring attacks have continued to raise concerns among residents and community leaders over what they describe as inadequate security presence in rural communities across the state.
As of the time of filing this report, the spokesman of the Plateau State Police Command, SP Alfred Alabo, had yet to officially comment on the latest attack despite repeated efforts to reach him.
Residents are now appealing to the Federal Government and security agencies to take urgent action to stop the wave of killings and restore peace in affected communities across Plateau State.
