Celebrity stylist and fashion designer, Toyin Lawani, aka Tiannah, posted a video of herself barely clad in anticipation of her 40th birthday which is coming soon, but some of her followers criticised her for exposing her body despite being married.

The caption that accompanied the post read, “Unapologetic me. If you wish, hit your heads on the wall. I will stress you guys so much. Should I go back to size eight? This was from my last shoot which I told you I was going to diet (sic) till I was size eight. I feel like doing the same now. I will post my current size next. Beauty with brains, who says you can’t be sexy and be a mum and a wife? You just need to be loved by who understands you and loves you for who you are.”

Few minutes after she made the post, some of her followers bashed her in the comments section. Razziechazy wrote, “Why didn’t you go naked? Do you need to go naked before you know that you’re beautiful? We have children here on Instagram, stop all this madness in the name of fashion, I beg you in the name of God, madam.”

Eedris Abdulkareem: I didn’t attack Seyi Tinubu with my new song

Veteran Nigerian rapper Eedris Abdulkareem has refuted claims that his latest track, Tell Your Papa, is a personal attack on Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu. Instead, he says the song is a direct response to Seyi’s public endorsement of his father as Nigeria’s “greatest president.”

Speaking on Channels Television’s Rubbin’ Minds, Abdulkareem explained that the track was inspired by a video clip in which Seyi passionately defended his father’s legacy during a political event in Yola, Adamawa State, in March.

“If Seyi hadn’t spoken, I wouldn’t have responded,” the rapper said. “The song is a message, not an insult. It’s a call for leadership that listens and acts on the issues affecting ordinary Nigerians.”

READ ALSO:

Abdulkareem emphasized that the track addresses pressing concerns such as poor electricity supply, insecurity, unemployment, and the lack of a conducive economic environment for young Nigerians. He also criticized the National Broadcasting Commission’s (NBC) decision to ban the song from airplay, describing the move as censorship. The ban has drawn criticism from various quarters, including Nobel Laureate Prof. Wole Soyinka.

Reflecting on his 2001 hit Jaga Jaga, the artist said the continued relevance of that song highlights the country’s slow pace of progress.

“Seyi said his father is the best president,” Abdulkareem remarked. “Maybe he is—to him. But the average Nigerian youth is still struggling. There’s no food, no safety on the roads, and no jobs. I’d like Seyi to try traveling without security and see what citizens experience daily.”

He advised the younger Tinubu to take a step back from public speaking roles, saying, “Sometimes, silence says more. He lacks the clarity and honesty needed to speak on Nigeria’s real issues.”

Song theft: Davido gets 21-day court order to respond to accusations

A U.S. federal court has given Nigerian music superstar David ‘Davido’ Adeleke 21 days to respond to a copyright infringement lawsuit accusing him of stealing a song from a group of Nigerian artists.

The case, filed at the United States District Court in Manhattan on April 4, was brought by Martins Chukwuka Emmanuel, Abel Great Umaru, Kelvin Ayodele Campbell, and David Ovhioghena Umaru.

The four allege that Davido copied their 2022 song Work to create his 2024 track Strawberry on Ice.

Also named in the lawsuit are Sierra Leonean artist Emmerson (Emmerson Amidu Bockarie), who featured on the song, and other contributors including Carlos Jenkins, Matthew Quinney, Marques Miles II, and Wynn Records, the label responsible for publishing and distributing the track.

According to court documents, the plaintiffs initially shared Work with Davido in January 2022 in hopes of securing a collaboration. However, they allege that instead of working with them, Davido gave the song to Emmerson, who then “sampled its vocals and instrumentals to create Strawberry on Ice without permission.”

After attempts to resolve the matter privately, the plaintiffs claim the Grammy nominee reached a settlement agreement on March 14, 2025.

The deal reportedly included a payment of $45,000 and a royalty breakdown—“40% for the song’s composition and 20% for the recording.” However, Davido allegedly failed to meet the agreed March 24 deadline for honoring the settlement.

As a result, the plaintiffs are asking the court for $150,000 in damages and legal recognition of their contributions: “40% of the compositional rights and 20% of the recording rights for Strawberry on Ice.” They are also seeking an injunction to prevent the “Feel It” crooner and his collaborators from further infringement or similar actions in the future.

Davido has yet to make a public statement regarding the lawsuit, while Wynn Records also declined to comment when contacted.
