A social media influencer, Chibuike Gabriel Ugwu, popularly known as “Untouchable”, has apologised to the Governor Peter Mbah over his viral video at the weekend claiming that Enugu state government was executing a massive demolition of completed houses at the Enugu Lifestyle and Golf City, also known as Enugu Centenary City.

Sandwiched in the apology video by his two friends, who are also content creators, the “Untouchable Comedy” producer, said that he was misinformed and had also acted out of emotions.

In the short video, which he released on Sunday morning, he said: “Information reaching me this morning was like I was even the one, who did not understand what was going on at the Enugu Centenary City. They now explained to me what was happening and it is a very long matter. It is plenty, but I now know better.

“I wrongly accused the governor and I just want to beg him not to be angry. I was misinformed and I was also overwhelmed by fear and emotion. I thought about this property, being my only house, and I was propelled by emotions to do the first video.

“So, my people, this is a quick disclaimer to my earlier video. My governor, I beg you.”

Ugwu’s video vindicates the statement, on Saturday, by the Chairman, Enugu Capital Territory Development Authority, ECTDA, Hon. Uche Anya, disclaiming the video.

Contrary to Ugwu’s claim, Anya had explained that although the deadline given to property developers at the vast land located at Amechi Awkunanaw-Obeagu communities in October 2023 to relgularise their properties had since expired, ECTDA was yet to demolish any completed and or occupied property in order to allow developers elaborate time present their title documents and building approvals

He however, stressed the Authority would not succumb to what he described as blackmail” in its determination to stamp out the activities of illegal property developers and land grabbers and protect the rights and interests of investors.

“At ECTDA, we observe the rule of law. So, Capital Territory Development Authority is determined to frustrate every attempt to illegally grab land or encroach, an act which could jeopardise investors’ interest in the state or dissuade them entirely,” he stated.

Legendary Fuji musician, Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as KWAM 1 or K1 De Ultimate, broke down in tears on Sunday as he paid an emotional tribute to late veteran actor, Taiwo Hassan, better known as Ogogo, who passed away at the age of 66 after battling stage-four cancer. The moment of grief occurred during KWAM 1’s live performance at the Mushin 30th Anniversary Celebration, where he received the devastating news of Ogogo’s passing. A viral video circulating on social media captured the Fuji maestro rendering a tribute song for the late actor before becoming overwhelmed by emotion. The musician stepped away from his microphone and wept openly, prompting his band members to pause the performance and console him. Another Fuji musician, Alhaji Malaika, also became emotional while paying tribute to the late actor during the same event, saying on stage, “His death really hit hard. I’m in pain,” as he reflected on the impact and legacy Ogogo left behind in the Nigerian entertainment industry.

During the tribute, KWAM 1 extolled the qualities of the late actor, who gained prominence for his role in the popular movie Owo Blow. The Fuji maestro used the sombre moment to remind everyone to be mindful of their last day on earth, as it would eventually come for all. He extended his condolences to Ogogo’s family, the Ogun State Government, the Olu of Ilaro, and the good people of Ilaro over the veteran actor’s death, acknowledging the profound loss suffered by the entire community.

Ogogo’s health crisis became public earlier this month after his daughters, Kira and Lima Taiwo, appealed for medical assistance on August 17, revealing that doctors had informed the family they could no longer administer chemotherapy due to his deteriorating condition. The actor had reportedly been battling stage-four cancer, and his death on Sunday, August 23, 2026, at 3:00 pm, was confirmed by veteran actor Jide Kosoko, who described him as a colleague who left an indelible mark on Yoruba cinema. Ogogo had spoken publicly about his experience with illness in previous interviews, revealing that he spent seven years battling a chronic ulcer, describing the period as one of the darkest chapters of his life. According to him, the illness weakened him so severely that he could barely eat and survived mainly on pap. He recalled episodes of vomiting blood and experiencing sharp pains in his chest. His condition also affected his ability to observe his religious duties normally; as a Muslim, he said he had to pray while sitting instead of adopting the usual position required during prayers.

Ogogo was buried on Monday, August 24, 2026, in his hometown, Ilaro, Ogun State, in accordance with Islamic burial rites. The Janazah (burial) prayer took place at 10:00 am at the Asade Agunloye Pavilion Ground, as announced by the Chief Imam of Ilaro and shared by Seun Oloketuyi, founder of the Best of Nollywood (BON) Awards. A laying-in-state ceremony was also held at the same venue at 11:00 am. The Ogun State Government expressed deep sadness over Ogogo’s death, describing his passing as a monumental loss to the state and Nigeria’s creative industry. The APC governorship candidate for Ogun State, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, also expressed sorrow, stating that Ogogo was “a great loss to the creative and entertainment industry” and that his “role in the drive for a better society through filmmaking and other forms of positive advocacy would always be remembered.”

Ogogo’s death has sparked a wave of tributes from Nigerians, including celebrities and politicians. Actor and President of the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN), Bolaji Amusan (Mr Latin), said, “Today, we mourn the passing of a great icon, a legend and a father to many.” Actor and filmmaker Muyiwa Ademola described his death as “the end of an era,” calling Ogogo “one of the biggest talents ever produced by the Nigerian film industry.” Actor Saidi Balogun expressed grief, describing Ogogo as a brother and praying that Allah grants him eternal rest. Femi Adebayo described him as a true pillar of Yoruba cinema whose impact would live on for generations, while actress Toyin Adewale described Hassan as a “gem,” saying, “You came, you saw, and you conquered. What a remarkable life and legacy.” Actress Ini Edo also broke down publicly over the loss.

Ogogo, born on October 31, 1959, in Ilaro, Ogun State, began acting in 1981 while working as a mechanic. He eventually left his job at the Water Corporation in 1994 to pursue acting as a full-time career. His career spanned more than four decades, and he was regarded as one of the prominent figures in the Yoruba film industry, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to inspire generations of actors and filmmakers.

Veteran Nollywood Actor Taiwo Hassan ‘Ogogo’ Dies at 66 After Cancer Battle

Veteran Nollywood actor and filmmaker, Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has died at the age of 66, days after his family publicly disclosed his battle with stage-four cancer.

The actor reportedly died on Sunday, August 23, 2026, following a deterioration in his health. His death was confirmed in reports quoting people close to the actor, while his daughter, Kaira Taiwo, was seen in tears during an Instagram Live session, struggling to come to terms with the development.

The founder of Best of Nollywood, Seun Oloketuyi, also announced the actor’s death in a social media post, writing: “Taiwo Hassan Ogogo is dead. He finally lost the battle of life.”

News of the actor’s death has triggered an outpouring of grief from colleagues, fans and associates across the Nigerian film industry.

According to Kaira, doctors had told the family that chemotherapy could no longer be administered because of his condition.

The family’s appeal sparked widespread concern among Nigerians and members of the entertainment industry, with colleagues rallying around the actor and urging the public to continue praying for him.

Before his death, fellow veteran actor Jide Kosoko disclosed that more than 500 people had offered various forms of assistance to Ogogo, as the family and colleagues searched for appropriate treatment options.

Ronke Oshodi Oke: I Won’t Object If My Husband Marries Second Wife

Veteran Nollywood actress Ronke Oshodi Oke has said she would not oppose her husband taking a second wife, provided he has the financial capacity to cater adequately for both families and continues to treat his first wife with respect.

The actress made the disclosure during an interview with Behind The Fame TV, where she spoke about marriage, polygamy and the responsibilities of husbands towards their wives.

According to her, while she would accept her husband’s decision to marry another woman, she would not agree to live under the same roof with the second wife.

She explained that in the event of such a decision, her husband would be expected to provide separate accommodation for the second wife rather than bring her into the home she currently occupies.

“A man has to respect his wife because if he wants to marry a second wife, he should bring her home and introduce her to the first wife properly,” the actress said.

Oshodi Oke maintained that a woman should not necessarily create conflict with her husband simply because he decides to take another wife, particularly when he possesses the financial means to shoulder the responsibilities that come with a larger family.

“A wise woman should know that there is no big deal if a man marries a second wife, but the only thing is that I can’t stay in the same house together with the second wife,” she said.

The actress stressed that her primary concern would be her husband’s ability to provide for his responsibilities without neglecting his existing family.

“If my husband can take care of the second wife and he has the financial capacity, I see no reason he can’t marry a second wife,” she stated.

She further explained that taking another wife should not be an excuse for a man to abandon or reduce his financial and emotional responsibilities towards his first wife and their children.

“If marrying a second wife will not stop him from giving me money…” she added.

Her comments have drawn attention to the subject of polygamy, a practice that remains part of Nigeria’s social and cultural landscape, particularly in communities where plural marriage is traditionally or religiously recognised.
