BREAKING: APC Presents ₦100m Presidential Forms to Faleke for Tinubu
BREAKING: APC Presents ₦100m Presidential Forms to Faleke for Tinubu
Member of the House of Representatives and founder of the Tinubu Support Group, Hon. James Faleke, on Tuesday formally received the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential Expression of Interest and Nomination forms for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Faleke was handed the forms by officials of the ruling party at the Abuja Continental Hotel, venue of the APC’s ongoing sale of nomination forms ahead of the party primaries scheduled for next month.
The development officially signals the commencement of President Tinubu’s second-term campaign within the APC and positions him as the first major aspirant to complete the presidential nomination process since the party opened sales of forms.
The APC presidential forms cost a total of ₦100 million, broken down into ₦30 million for the Expression of Interest form and ₦70 million for the Nomination form. Party officials said the exercise forms part of preparations for the APC presidential primary slated for May 2026.
Although the process eventually commenced on Tuesday morning, it had earlier generated controversy and confusion within political circles following reports that APC governors and political allies had taken over the responsibility of procuring forms for preferred aspirants.
There had also been widespread speculation over whether state governments and political interest groups were financing the nomination process for President Tinubu.

Sources within the ruling party confirmed that several pro-Tinubu support groups and political stakeholders had contributed funds toward the purchase of the forms, including political actors linked to the Kogi State Government.
However, despite the involvement of multiple groups, the APC officially presented the forms to Hon. Faleke at exactly 1:15 p.m. in Abuja.
Faleke, who represents Ikeja Federal Constituency in Lagos State, is regarded as one of President Tinubu’s closest political allies and has played a major role in coordinating grassroots mobilization and campaign structures for the president over the years.
Speaking shortly after receiving the forms, APC officials described Tinubu as the party’s “consensus symbol of continuity,” insisting that the president remains the preferred choice of the ruling party ahead of the 2027 elections.
The party leadership also defended the high cost of nomination forms, arguing that the fees were necessary to manage the large number of aspirants and sustain the party’s electoral activities nationwide.
According to the APC timetable, the sale of forms will close on May 2, while submission of completed forms is expected to end on May 4. Screening of presidential aspirants has been fixed for May 9, with appeals scheduled for May 12 and 13.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had earlier announced that the 2027 presidential and National Assembly elections will hold on January 16, 2027, while governorship and State Assembly elections are scheduled for February 6, 2027.
Political observers say the early acquisition of the nomination forms underscores the APC leadership’s determination to consolidate support for President Tinubu well ahead of the party’s presidential convention.
The move also comes amid increasing endorsements for the president from APC governors, federal lawmakers, ministers, and party stakeholders across the country, many of whom have publicly backed Tinubu for a second term despite growing economic and security concerns in parts of the country.

Momodu Defends Atiku, Condemns Political “Bullying” in Nigerian Opposition
Momodu Defends Atiku, Condemns Political “Bullying” in Nigerian Opposition
Publisher of Ovation Magazine, Dele Momodu, has criticized what he described as the growing “bullying” of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, while revisiting the political history that saw Peter Obi emerge as Atiku’s running mate in the 2019 presidential election.
Momodu made the remarks in a post on X and later during an interactive X Space discussion, where he addressed internal opposition politics, the 2023 general election, and Nigeria’s evolving electoral dynamics.
He expressed concern over what he called increasing hostility directed at Atiku, insisting that it was unfair for individuals who once benefited from political alliances to now be at the centre of narratives that promote attacks on the former vice president. According to him, it was “extremely sad” that Atiku, who previously selected Peter Obi as his vice presidential candidate under the PDP presidential ticket arrangement, was now facing sustained criticism and online attacks from some political supporters. Momodu alleged that some of the attacks were being driven by “fake Obidients and agent provocateurs,” warning that such conduct could further deepen divisions within opposition politics.

Momodu also reflected on the 2023 presidential election, saying debates over whether Obi was “rigged out” of victory were often exaggerated. He argued that Obi’s strong performance in his regional stronghold was already evident in the election results. “You said Obi won and they did not allow him to take power. In 2023, Peter Obi had almost 100 percent of the votes from his territory, and the votes were recorded,” he said. He also highlighted the challenges of building a truly national political base in Nigeria, stressing that regional voting patterns remain a major factor in presidential elections. “Northerners will not die for any southern candidate,” he added, a comment that generated mixed reactions during the discussion.
Momodu defended Atiku’s political relevance, describing him as a consistent and resilient figure in Nigeria’s opposition space. “In the last election, whether you like him or not, he came second. I am proud of him because he stayed focused,” he said. He maintained that Atiku remains an important figure in national politics, adding that the next electoral cycle could be decisive for his future ambitions. “This one is the last one; if he loses the primary, then that is the end,” he said.
He also stressed that opposition stakeholders should focus on unity rather than internal conflicts that weaken their chances ahead of future elections.
Momodu warned against rising political hostility and online abuse, urging supporters of all political parties to maintain civility in public discourse. “I do not care… it is your right to say whatever you want about Atiku. But let us not behave like thugs,” he said. He also cautioned against insulting political leaders, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, stressing that respect and restraint are essential for healthy democratic engagement.
Momodu concluded by reaffirming his loyalty to Atiku, describing himself as “a last man standing,” while insisting that political differences should not erode mutual respect within Nigeria’s democratic space.

‘Pure Fabrication’ — Lagos Govt Rejects Sanwo-Olu Resignation Claims
‘Pure Fabrication’ — Lagos Govt Rejects Sanwo-Olu Resignation Claims
The Lagos State Government has dismissed widespread reports alleging that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu was asked to resign over health concerns, describing the claims as false, malicious and politically motivated.
The rumours, which circulated across social media and several online platforms, claimed that the Lagos governor was under pressure to step down, with Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat allegedly being positioned to take over the administration.
Reacting to the reports, the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the governor, Gboyega Akosile, issued a strongly worded statement denying the allegations and accusing Sahara Reporters of spreading misinformation.
According to Akosile, Governor Sanwo-Olu remains healthy, mentally fit and fully committed to his responsibilities as governor of Lagos State.
“These reports are not only false, they are an intentional attempt to mislead the public,” Akosile stated.
“Governor Sanwo-Olu is not under any pressure to resign, nor has anyone demanded his resignation. The Governor is well, in excellent health, and continues to fulfill his duties as Lagos State’s leader with commitment and dedication.”

The rebuttal followed a viral report claiming that the governor had been advised to step down on health grounds amid ongoing political developments ahead of the 2027 Lagos governorship race.
Akosile clarified that recent meetings between Governor Sanwo-Olu and Deputy Governor Hamzat were normal political consultations and had no connection with any health challenge or leadership crisis.
According to him, Dr. Hamzat visited the governor as part of consultations surrounding his reported governorship ambition ahead of the next election cycle.
The governor’s aide described the meeting as cordial and routine within the context of Lagos politics.
The Lagos Government further accused Sahara Reporters of repeatedly publishing sensational stories capable of creating confusion and unnecessary tension in the state’s political environment.
Akosile explained that although the government usually ignores “malicious reports,” it became necessary to address the rumours because of growing public concern.
“In light of the growing disinformation, we feel it is crucial to address these malicious rumors. The people of Lagos deserve to know the truth,” he added.
The state government subsequently urged residents to disregard the reports and rely only on verified official channels for information concerning state affairs.
Despite the rumours, Governor Sanwo-Olu has continued to attend official functions, policy meetings and project inspections across Lagos State in recent days.
Political observers believe the speculation may not be unconnected to growing political consultations and succession discussions ahead of the 2027 governorship election in Lagos State.
Governor Sanwo-Olu, who was re-elected in 2023 under the All Progressives Congress (APC), remains one of the most influential political figures in Lagos politics.
