BREAKING: Nigerian Military Submits Report on Alleged Coup Plot Against President Tinubu

The Nigerian military has officially submitted its investigation report on an alleged coup plot against President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Sources say the report details months of work by the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA) into claims that certain military officers planned to destabilize the government. President Tinubu is now reviewing the findings and is expected to determine the next course of action.

The development comes amid reports that five detained military officers fell ill in custody, with their families planning protests over what they describe as harsh treatment. The officers were allegedly held in a secure military facility in Abuja.

Earlier, the Defence Headquarters denied claims of a coup, describing media reports as false and misleading and stating the arrests were linked to breaches of military discipline rather than an actual plot. Following the initial allegations, the administration reshuffled top military leadership, emphasizing a commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s national security.

Political figures like former Bayelsa Governor Timipre Sylva have publicly denied involvement, calling the allegations against them unjustified. Meanwhile, regional security concerns persist as neighboring West African countries, including Benin, continue to face coup threats and instability.

Despite the military’s report submission, authorities have yet to confirm whether any formal charges will be brought against the detained officers or if a court-martial will occur. Security experts note that this development underscores the ongoing challenges facing Nigeria’s security architecture and the imperative to maintain political stability.
