JUST IN: Four Suspected Kidnappers Arrested in Edo Forest

The Edo State Police Command has arrested four suspected kidnappers in a forest in Ewu, Esan Central Local Government Area, following an exchange of gunfire with security operatives. The suspects have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further interrogation.

The arrest is part of a coordinated security crackdown on kidnapping and related criminal activities in Edo State. In a separate operation in Igun Forest, Agbede, Esan West Local Government Area, police, working with local vigilantes, successfully rescued a kidnapped couple and arrested five suspects, recovering ammunition and mobile phones during the raid.

Earlier, the Ekpoma Division uncovered a self‑kidnapping case, arresting an 18‑year‑old woman who staged her own abduction. The operation also led to the apprehension of 11 other suspected kidnappers believed to be operating from forest hideouts.

Additionally, the NSCDC Special Intelligence Squad recently apprehended 70 suspects involved in kidnapping, rape, and other crimes in areas such as Okpella, reinforcing Edo State’s ongoing fight against criminal syndicates.

Authorities say these operations are aimed at dismantling forest-based criminal networks, rescuing victims, and restoring public safety across rural and forested corridors of Edo State. Security forces have urged residents to report suspicious activities to the nearest police stations.
