Community leader killed in Benue ambush amid rising insecurity
Tragedy struck over the weekend as Mr. Atindiga Tsebee, a respected community leader and former Councillor of Tombo Council Ward in Logo Local Government Area, was reportedly killed in an ambush by suspected armed herdsmen.
The fatal attack occurred along the Ayilamo–Anyiin road near Tsukwa Village while Tsebee was returning from a security meeting aimed at addressing escalating violence in the region. Eyewitnesses said the assailants opened fire on the vehicle, which belonged to fellow community leader Zaki Terngu Iorhuna, killing Tsebee instantly.

“They were coming back from a meeting to discuss the recent attacks in our communities when the gunmen struck,” a local source confirmed.
The incident has plunged the Gaambe-Tiev community into mourning and sparked widespread fear of renewed hostilities. Reports indicate that residents are fleeing their homes, anticipating possible reprisal attacks.
In response, local leaders have urgently called for increased military presence to curb further violence and restore peace in the troubled area.
