Defence Minister Musa Identifies Four Key Challenges Undermining Nigeria’s Security
Nigeria’s Defence Minister, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (rtd), has outlined four major factors impeding the country’s efforts to tackle terrorism, banditry, and insecurity across Nigeria. Musa, speaking in a recent interview, emphasised that addressing these challenges requires national cooperation, intelligence sharing, and strict anti-crime measures.

The minister highlighted the importance of inter-ministerial collaboration, particularly between the Ministries of Defence and Interior, to enhance coordinated operations and intelligence sharing. He also stressed that state governments should avoid negotiating with criminals, as such deals could weaken ongoing security efforts.
Musa’s comments come amid rising insecurity in Nigeria, with frequent reports of kidnappings, bandit attacks, and insurgent activities affecting communities, schools, and highways. Analysts say tackling these issues requires a mix of military strategy, community engagement, and technological support.
