Galatasaray Confirm Successful Surgery for Victor Osimhen
Victor Osimhen has undergone successful surgery on a fractured right forearm following an injury sustained during UEFA Champions League Round of 16 action against Liverpool FC, his club has confirmed.
The Turkish side Galatasaray announced on its official X (formerly Twitter) account that the procedure was carried out at Maslak Acıbadem Hospital by the club’s medical team after the Nigerian striker was forced off during the match.
“In the away match we played against Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16, our player Victor Osimhen, who was injured and unable to continue the game, underwent a successful operation today at Maslak Acıbadem Hospital, performed by our club doctor, Op. Dr. Yener İnce,” the club stated.
The injury occurred in the first half following an aerial duel with Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konaté, who landed awkwardly on Osimhen’s arm. Despite the impact, the forward initially continued playing with his arm strapped before eventually being substituted due to discomfort.

After the match, Osimhen revealed that Konaté contacted him to check on his condition and clarify the incident, reflecting sportsmanship between both players.
Medical assessments indicate that Osimhen is expected to require approximately four weeks for initial bone healing, followed by an additional period of about two weeks to regain full match fitness through rehabilitation and conditioning.
Before the injury setback, the Nigerian international had been enjoying an impressive run of form. He had recorded 19 goals and seven assists in 29 appearances across all competitions, including seven goals and three assists in 10 UEFA Champions League matches, underlining his importance to Galatasaray’s attacking setup.
Galatasaray currently sit at the top of their domestic league standings, holding a four-point lead over second-placed Fenerbahçe S.K. with a game in hand, and will be hoping for Osimhen’s swift recovery as they continue their push for silverware on multiple fronts.
Club officials have expressed optimism about his rehabilitation progress and expect him to return once he is fully cleared by the medical team, depending on how quickly he responds to treatment.
Supporters have also rallied around the striker on social media, sending messages of encouragement as he begins the recovery phase.

Osimhen Undergoes Scan in Istanbul as Galatasaray Await Surgery Decision
Osimhen Undergoes Scan in Istanbul as Galatasaray Await Surgery Decision
Victor Osimhen has arrived in Istanbul for further medical evaluation after sustaining a right arm fracture during Galatasaray’s UEFA Champions League clash against Liverpool at Anfield, with doctors now set to determine whether he will undergo surgery.
The Galatasaray striker returned to Turkey on Sunday night and is scheduled to undergo additional scans and medical tests on Monday to assess the severity of the injury and guide treatment options. The outcome of the assessment will be crucial in deciding whether surgical intervention is necessary or if the injury can heal with conservative treatment.
Osimhen picked up the injury during the first half of the match after a challenge involving Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konaté. Although he initially continued playing, he was later withdrawn at halftime as medical staff raised concerns over a possible fracture.
Following the match, Galatasaray confirmed that medical examinations revealed a fracture in his right forearm, after which the affected area was placed in a cast. The club also indicated that a final decision on surgery would be made after further evaluation by specialists.

Reports from Turkish media, including Forza Cimbom, suggest that the Monday medical checks will determine the next steps, with surgery being considered depending on the stability and condition of the fracture.
There are growing concerns that the Nigerian forward could be sidelined for an extended period. Early projections indicate that if surgery is required, Osimhen may be out for between three and five months. However, if the fracture heals properly with a cast, his recovery timeline could be significantly shorter.
Galatasaray’s medical team is reportedly working closely with external specialists to monitor his progress and ensure the best possible recovery outcome. The striker has also been observed in public with his arm in a cast since returning to Nigeria briefly after the injury.
The situation is being closely followed in Turkey, where journalist Ali Naci Küçük noted that conservative treatment remains the preferred option, provided the healing process progresses as expected.
Before the injury, Osimhen had been a key figure for Galatasaray this season, contributing significantly with goals and assists across competitions. His form has been instrumental in the club’s domestic campaign, where they currently hold a strong position in the Super Lig title race.
His potential absence presents a major challenge for the club as they look to maintain momentum in both league and cup competitions. Galatasaray are expected to rely on squad depth and tactical adjustments should the striker be ruled out for an extended period.
An official update from Galatasaray is expected after the completion of Monday’s medical assessments, which will confirm whether Osimhen proceeds with surgery or continues with non-invasive treatment.

Man City Claim First Trophy of Season with 2–0 Win Against Arsenal
Manchester City secured a 2-0 victory over Arsenal at Wembley Stadium on Sunday to lift the Carabao Cup, bringing an end to the Gunners’ pursuit of a historic quadruple.
Nico O’Reilly proved decisive for City, netting twice in the second half to deliver the trophy for Pep Guardiola’s men and deny Mikel Arteta’s side a first League Cup success since 1993.
City handed a starting role to goalkeeper James Trafford and named a strong side featuring Erling Haaland, as they aimed to end a run of three matches without a win against an Arsenal team that had gone 12 games unbeaten in all competitions.

The opening half was closely fought, but the game shifted after the interval as City took control, with Arsenal goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga involved in the build-up to both goals conceded.
O’Reilly broke the deadlock in the 60th minute after Arrizabalaga failed to hold onto a cross, allowing the midfielder to react quickly and make it 1-0. Four minutes later, he struck again, converting Matheus Nunes’ delivery to put the result beyond doubt.
Guardiola reacted with visible excitement on the sidelines as City claimed their ninth Carabao Cup title, while also extending his personal unbeaten record in finals of the competition to five victories.

After Everton humble Chelsea 3-0, Moyes reveals game plan
Everton manager David Moyes has credited discipline, intensity, and tactical execution for his side’s emphatic 3-0 victory over Chelsea FC in Saturday’s Premier League clash.
The Toffees delivered a commanding display at Hill Dickinson, with Beto netting twice and Iliman Ndiaye adding a third to seal a statement win that lifts Everton to eighth on the table.
Reflecting on the result, Moyes described the outing as his side’s most complete performance of the season, highlighting how effectively his players neutralised Chelsea’s attacking threats.
“I thought it was our best performance from the first minute—really on it,” Moyes told reporters after the game. “We did a really good job. Chelsea came here hurting from recent results, but we managed to deal with that and nullify them at different stages.”
Everton’s dominance was evident in both phases of play, as they combined defensive organisation with clinical finishing to overwhelm their visitors.
The result not only boosts Everton’s European ambitions but also reinforces growing belief within the squad under Moyes’ leadership.
