kidnappers confess killing 6-year-old boy because of hunger

Two suspected kidnappers, Husseini Suleiman and Muktar Mohammed, have confessed to the brutal killing of a six-year-old boy, Ebuka Godwin, to raise money for food.

The suspects, originating from Bashin village in Yoro local government area of Taraba State, committed this heinous act in Ganye local government area of Adamawa State.

The tragic incident was disclosed by Adamawa State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, who revealed that the suspects admitted to abducting young Ebuka with the intention of demanding ransom to purchase food.

Husseini and Muktar, who were Almajiris at Shiek Dahiru Ganye “Tsangaya” School in Ganye, devised a plan to kidnap their victim and extort money from his parents. According to Husseini, they fashioned sticks to resemble guns and used these to storm the residence of Ebuka’s father in early May 2024, where they abducted the child.

Following the abduction, the suspects contacted Ebuka’s father, demanding a ransom of N10 million and an additional N152,000 for feeding expenses. The victim’s father complied with the demand for the feeding fee, but tragically, after receiving the money, the suspects strangled the young boy and buried his body in the sand.

With the money collected, the suspects purchased new phones, callously using the funds obtained through their reprehensible actions.

This case highlights the alarming lengths to which individuals may go in desperate situations, and underscores the urgent need for effective law enforcement and social support systems to prevent such tragedies.
