Kwara community vigilantes repel bandits in Isapa village
A fresh bandit attack on Isapa village in the Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State on Monday was successfully repelled by local vigilantes, preventing any abductions or casualties.
Reports indicate that a fierce exchange of gunfire occurred between the armed robbers and vigilante members who were on standby. The community quickly sent a Save Our Souls (SoS) alert to the Kwara State government, which promptly dispatched soldiers from Eruku to reinforce the village.

According to Mr. Abayomi Daramola, treasurer of the Isapa People’s Union (IPU), the bandits failed to abduct anyone, and no vigilantes were injured during the encounter. “Our local vigilantes engaged the attackers effectively. SoS was sent to the state government, which immediately directed soldiers in Eruku to reinforce. They have left the community as we speak,” Daramola said.
Isapa village is located approximately five kilometers from Eruku, where last Tuesday, three people were killed and 38 church members were kidnapped in a separate bandit attack.
The incident highlights the ongoing security challenges in Kwara State and underscores the role of community vigilantes in protecting rural areas from banditry.
