Nine Killed, 10 Injured in Bauchi Auto Crash on Jama’are–Azare Road, Says FRSC
No fewer than nine persons were confirmed dead on Friday following a lone auto crash in Bauchi State along the Jama’are–Azare road, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has said.
The Bauchi State Sector Commander of the FRSC, Mr. Apaji Boyi, disclosed that the accident involved a commercial bus with registration number KTG 181 ZZ, which was conveying 19 passengers from Gombe State to Kano State.
According to Boyi, the crash occurred at about 6:20 a.m., and FRSC personnel arrived at the scene within 10 minutes to conduct rescue operations and clear the road for traffic.

He said 10 passengers sustained varying degrees of injuries, while nine others died on the spot. The injured victims were rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Azare, for medical treatment, while the bodies of the deceased were deposited at the hospital’s morgue.
The sector commander attributed the fatal accident to speed limit violation, driver fatigue, and loss of control, warning motorists against reckless driving and prolonged journeys without adequate rest.
“Nineteen persons were involved in the fatal road crash. Nine lost their lives instantly, while 10 sustained serious injuries,” Boyi said.
He reiterated the FRSC’s commitment to road safety enforcement and public sensitisation, urging motorists to obey traffic rules and regulations to prevent avoidable accidents on Nigerian highways.
