Brave female officer CSP Jummai Amawo arrests Kaduna’s notorious kidnapper

A female police officer under Kaduna State Police Command has arrested a suspected kidnapper, Adamu Abdulwahab and recovered dangerous weapons in his possession.

The State Commissioner of Police has commended the Officer in Charge (OC) of the CP Monitoring Unit, CSP Jummai Amawo, and her dedicated team for their exceptional efforts and dedication to duty, saying “the iron lady has done it again.”

Spokesperson of the Command, ASP Mansir Hassan in a statement, explained that “On February 29, 2024, at approximately 1700hrs, the vigilante operatives of the CP Monitoring Unit conducted a well-coordinated operation at the residence of the suspect Mr. Adamu Abdulwahab, in Ganga Uku Village, Mararaban Jos.”

“The operation resulted in the apprehension of Mr. Abdulwahab and the recovery of crucial exhibits, including a fabricated cartridge revolver rifle, a fabricated pistol, two Dane guns, six live cartridges, one discharged GPRG ammunition, seven discharged cartridges, and a blood-stained cutlass.”

According to him, “It was revealed during the investigation that Mr. Adamu Abdulwahab, 35 years old, in connivance with other suspects who are currently at large, had kidnapped Mr. Samaila Abdullahi, 40 years old, of Keke Kingdom, Mararaban Jos, on February 13, 2024, at approximately 1400hrs.

The victim was forcefully taken to an unknown destination.

“The suspect is now in custody, cooperating with ongoing investigations, and providing valuable information to aid the police in bringing the remaining perpetrators to justice.”

“The Commissioner of Police commends the CP Monitoring Unit for their dedication, professionalism, and swift response in ensuring the safety of the community.

This successful operation underscores the overall commitment of the police command, led by Commissioner of Police CP Ali Audu Dabigi Psc, to maintain law and order in Kaduna State,” the statement added.

Varsity student declared missing on her way to lecture room in Kogi

A 200-level student of the Federal University, Lokoja, Janet Kyeme has been reported missing on her way to attend lectures at the university.

It was not clear if the incident, which happened in the early hours of Friday on her way to the main campus of the institution at Felele in Lokoja had to do with kidnapping.

City & Crime gathered that Janet, a student of the Department of Library and Information Science (LIS) was last seen that Friday morning when she took a motorcycle from her family house at Zango – Army Barracks area of Lokoja on her way to the school.

 Nigerian varsity student declared missing on her way to lecture Her foster father, a pastor of a Pentecostal church in Lokoja, raised the alarm when she did not return from school that fateful day.

“She left for school on Friday early morning as usual. When she did not come back from school that day, her foster father, a pastor and others called, but could not reach her as her cell phone was switched off.

“A sister was sent to the school to confirm her whereabouts without success. Apprehension has gripped the family over her fate, as no contact has been made to the family from any quarters since her sudden disappearance,” said Pastor Joseph, a close friend of the family.

The authorities of the university said the institution had left no stone unturned to ensure that the whereabouts of the student were established.

“The school authorities have taken appropriate action in conjunction with security agents and other relevant bodies. We hope our efforts will yield a desirable result. Since it’s already a security matter, we cannot say much about the situation now,” said a director in the institution, who craved anonymity.

When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP William Aya, said the scenario appears to be a case of a missing person for now, as her supposed abductors have not contacted her family, adding that the investigation is ongoing.

Bandits abduct 14 persons in fresh Kaduna attack

Gunmen suspected to be bandits have kidnap fourteen people have at Dogon Noma- Ungwan Gamo community in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The unfortunate incident comes barely a week after 61 people were kidnapped in Buda community also in Kajuru LGA of the State.

Sani Musa, a youth leader in the community told journalists that the bandits in large numbers had in the early hours of Saturday invaded the Dogon Noma community. ‎

According to Musa, the bandits started shooting sporadically, during which they abducted fourteen people while one person sustained injury.

He gave the names of the kidnapped victims as Bulus Dandaura, Murna Bulus, Donald Bulus, Labari Audu, Zainabu Dauda, and Dorcas Titus. Others are Jummai Garba, Felicia Wanzami, Ruth Thomas, Esther Oliver, Comfort Babangida, Yakubu Pama, Abaza Monday, and Christy Samuel.

According to the youth leader, the only injured person, Jibrin Dauda, was taken to the hospital for medical attention.
