Nigerian singer Oyindamola Emmanuel Johnson-Hunga, popularly known as Dammy Krane has been released from police custody after spending nearly a week in detention at the Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) in Abuja.

Dammy Krane was arrested on allegations related to cybercrime.

The singer’s arrest on August 22nd followed allegations he made against fellow musician, David Adeleke popularly known as Davido, accusing him of orchestrating his arrest.

LEADERSHIP reported that Krane claimed that Davido paid the police to detain him under false pretenses, alleging involvement in illegal activities related to Flutterwave and cryptocurrency scams.

In a statement released during his detention, Krane warned, “Davido should be held accountable if anything happens to me.”

However, in a twist to the unfolding drama, Krane has since retracted his accusations. In a video shared by social media activist VeryDarkMan following his release, Krane was seen expressing gratitude and apologising to Davido.

“I wanna say a big thank you to my brother. I know there are a lot of words that ought not to be said. I know. I want to apologise for this Tagbo death allegation. Make una still remember David is my brother. And we are going to find a major ground to resolve everything,” he said, referring to a past dispute involving the death of Tagbo Umeike, a mutual friend.

Krane also thanked the police commissioner in Abuja and VeryDarkMan for their support during his time in custody.

The FCID spokesperson, Funmilayo Eguaoje, confirmed Krane’s release but did not provide details on the specific charges or reasons for his detention, stating only that he was interrogated by the cybercrime unit.

The ongoing feud between Krane and Davido dates back several months, with Krane accusing Davido of owing him money for songwriting contributions and sabotaging his record deal with Sony Music. In response, Davido labeled Krane “ungrateful” and denied any payment obligations, claiming he had provided shelter and support to Krane during a difficult period when he was homeless. Davido also dismissed the allegations related to Tagbo Umeike’s death, threatening to sue Krane for “defamation of character and cyberbullying.”

Meanwhile, Krane has announced the release of a new project titled ‘King of Afrobeats,’ scheduled for September 6. In his video message, he urged fans to focus on spreading positive energy and music, saying, “It is still WorldStar movement. Let us spread more music.”

I had ‘quick sex’ with Lande’s wife – Actor Baba Tee recants earlier denial

I had ‘quick sex’ with Lande’s wife – Actor Baba Tee recants earlier denial

Actor Baba Tee has confessed to having a brief s3xual encounter with Dara, the wife of comedian Lande.

This admission contradicts his earlier denial, in which he threatened to sue Lande for defamation.

In a live interview, Baba Tee claimed he was drunk and playing “Truth or Dare” with Dara and actress Marygold when the incident occurred.

He alleged Marygold dared Dara to have a “quick” s3xual intercourse with him.

He said: “When Marygold and Dara came to my house. She (Marygold) claimed that she wanted me to be an MC for an upcoming programme of hers despite not telling me that she was coming with anyone. She introduced Dara as a content creator and not as Lande’s wife. They began to ask if I had a Qatar connection before the ‘Truth or Dare’ game suggestion came up.

READ ALSO:

“So immediately we began the game, Marygold went completely naked and was daring me consistently to Dara while she kept taking alcohol as a choice of not wanting to do the tasks that I demanded from her. Rather than throwing more ‘Truth’ to me, they were hurling ‘Dare’ at me.

“Marygold now dared Dara to let me have a ‘quick’ sexual intercourse with her and she (Dara) obliged. So, the reason I said I never slept with Lande’s wife was because Marygold never introduced her as that to me, she called her a content creator. I will not deny that I had a short sexual intercourse with her, it is the first time I am saying it. It is now that I discovered that it was a set-up by both of them to malign my personality.”

Following the revelation, Baba Tee apologised to Lande on Facebook, stating, “I am deeply sorry from the bottom of my heart, brother, Lande.”

He wrote: “I am deeply sorry from the bottom of my heart, brother, Lande. Deep how Dara became Lande’s wife without my knowledge…Hmmm. I fear women.”

I may not survive if I expose men who slept with my wife – Actor Ijoba Lande

Popular Nollywood comic actor, Ganiyu Kehinde Morufu, better known as Ijoba Lande, has revealed that his life could be in danger if he exposes the men who allegedly had affairs with his estranged wife, Muyibat.

In a recent video shared on his YouTube page, Lande recounted his marital struggles, claiming that his ex-wife was involved with multiple men in the entertainment industry.

He hinted that some of these individuals are highly influential, making it risky for him to reveal their identities.

He claimed that his ex-wife used to deny him sex but was having affairs with other men outside their marriage.

Lande expressed that his ex-wife caused him significant pain before leaving their marriage, emphasizing that besides her infidelity, she was also provocative.

He said, “Before my wife moved out of the house, she showed me hell. She would deliberately provoke me to beat her, but I never did. It is not easy for a man to beat a woman he loves. Despite everything she did to me, I didn’t want her to leave, so I endured.

“My wife, who used to tell me her hormones were not working whenever I asked for sex, was suddenly having high hormones for other men outside. I will always fear women.

“I have not had sex with my wife in eight months. At my child’s naming ceremony, my wife’s male friend came. They danced together to the extent that he tapped my wife on her butt.

“If I begin to list those who have slept with my wife in this industry, I might not make it home before they come after me, because some of them are well-connected.”

Just in: MultiChoice increases DStv, GOtv subscription prices again

MultiChoice, the parent company of DStv and GOtv, has announced a new increase in subscription prices, marking the second price adjustment within a year.

The new rates will take effect from March 1, 2025, with prices set to rise by at least 20% across various packages.

This move comes as the company faces declining subscriptions and economic challenges across its major African markets.

According to documents obtained by TechCabal and an email sent to customers, the new subscription rates are:

DStv Premium: ₦45,000 (previously ₦37,000)

DStv Compact Plus: ₦35,000 (previously ₦30,000)

DStv Compact: ₦19,000 (previously ₦15,700)

MultiChoice has cited inflation and foreign exchange challenges as reasons for the price increase.

The company’s 2024 financial report revealed a 9% drop in active subscribers across Africa, with Nigeria, Angola, Kenya, and Zambia witnessing a 13% decline.

The sharp depreciation of the naira alone reportedly caused a 32% loss in MultiChoice’s revenue when converted to US dollars.

To mitigate these economic challenges, MultiChoice has adopted a cost-cutting plan aimed at saving $113 million while introducing “inflationary pricing” to maintain revenue. However, with consumer spending under pressure, the rising costs have sparked concerns among subscribers already battling economic hardship.

This development follows similar price adjustments by streaming services like Netflix, signaling a shift in Africa’s entertainment industry.

Meanwhile, Nigeria’s Consumer Protection Commission and other regulatory bodies are yet to react to the latest price increase. In the past, such hikes have attracted public outcry and even legislative scrutiny due to MultiChoice’s dominance in the pay-TV market.
