Power Supply Drop: Ikeja Electric Blames Nationwide Gas Shortage
Electricity distribution company, Ikeja Electric Plc, has attributed the ongoing reduction in power supply across its network to a nationwide decline in electricity generation caused by limited gas supply to thermal power plants.
In a public notice issued on March 23, 2026, the company explained that the shortage of gas has significantly reduced the volume of energy available on the national grid. This, in turn, has affected the allocation of electricity to distribution companies, including Ikeja Electric.
