Sports journalist Chapele brutalised by brothers
Ugo Chapele, a sports journalist with Wazobia FM and dubbed ‘Suo The Queen of Sports,’ is seeking justice at Lagos’ Bode Thomas Magistrate Court after being brutalised by a motorist identified as Wisdom Moses, his pregnant wife, and brothers on her way home from work.
Chapele provided pidgin English match commentary at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
According to eyewitnesses, a car broke down on the Lekki-Epe highway, and a truck from the Lekki Concession Company attempted to pull it off the road, causing motorists to drive slowly.
The eyewitness stated that Moses slammed his car into Chapele’s from behind, and after the collision, he came down and attacked her, striking her numerous times, leaving her battered and bruised with injuries to her face and body.

“We were all shocked when a man hit the car in front, came out of his car, and started hitting at the driver in front with two other men and a woman,” the eyewitness revealed.
According to Chapele, Moses, his two brothers, and a pregnant woman attacked her, leaving serious slashes on her chest and neck.
“I pray I get justice in court. The criminal case has been adjourned until March 11, 2023,” Chapele told journalists.
Chapele told our correspondent about her suffering at the hands of her assailant, saying she was frightened after being brutalised.
She said, “It’s been a few days, and I’ve found it hard to stop crying. The horror of thinking that I was going to die over something they actually caused really traumatised me.
“My saviours that night were the street urchins at the scene and the LCC operators who called the Maroko policemen. I must commend them because, within a day, Wisdom, his brother Chidera, and his sister Stella had been arraigned and remanded.”
