Tacha Backs Osimhen, Compares Super Eagles Star to Cristiano Ronaldo After AFCON Row
Tacha Backs Osimhen, Compares Super Eagles Star to Cristiano Ronaldo After AFCON Row
Media personality Tacha has come to the defence of Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen following widespread criticism of his heated exchange with teammate Ademola Lookman during Nigeria’s 4-0 win over Mozambique at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The incident occurred in the second half of the AFCON round-of-16 clash, despite Lookman having earlier provided an assist for one of Osimhen’s goals. Video footage showed the Napoli forward angrily confronting Lookman after a missed chance, while the Atalanta winger remained calm as teammates stepped in to defuse the situation.
Reacting on social media platform X, Tacha argued that Osimhen was being unfairly singled out by fans, suggesting that his passion was being misinterpreted as indiscipline.

She likened Osimhen to Cristiano Ronaldo, questioning whether similar criticism would follow if the Portuguese star displayed the same level of emotion on the pitch.
“Nigerians and see finish,” Tacha wrote. “You all realise Victor Osimhen is our own Cristiano Ronaldo. If Ronaldo did the same thing, there wouldn’t be this much uproar. Osimhen was pushing for a hat-trick — you expect him not to shout?”
Tacha insisted that the striker’s intensity and competitive drive are key reasons he is regarded as one of the best attackers in world football, urging critics to “calm down” and appreciate his commitment.
Despite the controversy, Osimhen scored twice in the match as Nigeria cruised into the AFCON quarter-finals, keeping alive their quest for a fourth continental title.

Ademola Lookman has described his La Liga home debut for Atletico Madrid as a “very special moment” despite the team suffering a narrow 1–0 defeat to Real Betis. The Nigerian international winger highlighted both the excitement of making his debut at the Metropolitano and the disappointment of missing key opportunities during the match.
Lookman came close to leveling the score with a well-placed header that was ruled out for a marginal offside and later received a yellow card, but he remained optimistic about the experience. “Not the result we wanted but we stay positive. Very special moment making my debut in the Metropolitano. Aupa Atleti,” he wrote on social media following the game.
