Hon Aminu Sa’adu Ungogo and Hon Sarki Aliyu Daneji
Two members of the Kano State House of Assembly have died within hours of each other, throwing the state legislature into mourning.
The deceased lawmakers are Hon. Aminu Sa’adu Ungogo, who represented Ungogo State Constituency, and Hon. Sarki Aliyu Daneji, the lawmaker for Kano Municipal Constituency. Both deaths occurred on Wednesday, according to officials of the Kano State Government.
The sad development was first announced by Ibrahim Adam, Special Adviser on Information to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, who confirmed the passing of the two lawmakers in a Facebook post.

“May Allah forgive your shortcomings. Late Aminu Sa’adu of Ungogo Constituency. Late Sarki Aliyu Daneji of KMC Constituency. We lost both of them this evening,” he wrote.
Further confirmation came from Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, Director of Media at the Kano Government House, who disclosed that Hon. Aminu Sa’adu Ungogo died after a brief illness. He added that the lawmaker would be buried the same day in his hometown of Ungogo, Kano, in line with Islamic rites.
Announcing the second death shortly after, Dawakin Tofa said Hon. Sarki Aliyu Daneji passed away about an hour after Ungogo’s death, deepening the sense of loss within the Kano State House of Assembly.
Tributes have continued to pour in from colleagues, government officials and residents of the affected constituencies, as the state mourns the loss of two serving lawmakers in one day.
