Zamfara APC Denies Bandit Leader’s Alleged Membership

The Zamfara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed claims that notorious bandit leader Bello Turji obtained an APC membership card, describing the circulating document as fake and deliberately fabricated. The party said the alleged card was intended to discredit the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a statement, the party’s spokesman, Yusuf Idris, said the membership card bearing Turji’s name and photo contained several inconsistencies, including an incorrect membership code, dubious date format, and doctored photo, confirming it was counterfeit. Idris emphasized that no one can be registered without a valid National Identification Number (NIN), and Turji, who is wanted by security agencies, does not have one, making it impossible for him to be legitimately enrolled in the party’s database.

The APC also highlighted that the registration code on the card belonged to another state, further proving the document was fraudulent. Party officials accused unknown individuals of circulating the fake card to spread misinformation and create unnecessary tension in a state already facing serious security challenges.

Idris urged the public to ignore false claims about party membership and warned that spreading such misinformation could undermine confidence in the ongoing APC e-registration drive. He also stated that the matter has been reported to security agencies for investigation and possible prosecution.

The Zamfara APC reaffirmed its commitment to a transparent membership registration process as it prepares for the 2027 elections, insisting that only eligible Nigerians with valid NINs can participate in party activities.
