“Our thoughts and prayers are with their families and loved ones,” the statement said.

Ghami, who served as Anthony Joshua’s strength and conditioning coach, and Ayodele, popularly known as “Latz,” his personal trainer, died at the scene after a Lexus SUV conveying Joshua collided with a stationary truck in the Makun area of Ogun State. Joshua, who was also involved in the accident, survived with minor injuries and has since been discharged from hospital.

The London Janaza is expected to bring together family members, friends, and figures from the global boxing community to honour the lives and contributions of the deceased.

Messi Joins Ronaldo in 900-Goal Club as Miami Exit Tournament

Football icon Lionel Messi has reached a historic milestone, scoring his 900th career goal during Inter Miami CF’s 1-1 draw with Nashville SC in the CONCACAF Champions Cup.

The 38-year-old forward becomes only the second player in football history to achieve the feat, joining long-time rival Cristiano Ronaldo in the exclusive 900-goal club, further cementing his legacy as one of the greatest players of all time.

Messi’s landmark goal came early in the match, as he found the net in the seventh minute with a low, powerful strike that ignited celebrations among home supporters. The goal marks a remarkable milestone in a career that began with his first senior goal for FC Barcelona in 2005.

The Argentine superstar’s 900 career goals span an extraordinary journey across club and international football. He scored 672 goals for Barcelona, 32 for Paris Saint-Germain, and has netted 81 goals for Inter Miami since joining the Major League Soccer side in 2023. On the international stage, he has recorded 115 goals for the Argentina national team.

Despite the historic achievement, the match ended in disappointment for Inter Miami. Nashville SC equalised in the 74th minute, cancelling out Messi’s opener and ensuring a 1-1 draw on the night. With the first leg ending goalless, the MLS side were eliminated from the competition on the away goals rule.

The result means Inter Miami’s CONCACAF Champions Cup campaign comes to an early end, overshadowing what would have otherwise been a celebratory night for the club and its fans.

Messi’s latest milestone inevitably reignites comparisons with Cristiano Ronaldo, as both players continue to dominate football’s record books. Their long-standing rivalry has defined an era, pushing each other to unprecedented levels of performance and consistency.

Reactions have poured in globally, with fans and football analysts praising Messi’s longevity, consistency, and unmatched ability to perform at the highest level even in the latter stages of his career.

While the team’s exit is a setback, Messi’s achievement highlights his enduring brilliance, and attention now turns to how far he can extend his goal tally as he continues to rewrite football history.

Barcelona Crush Newcastle 7-2 to Reach UCL Quarter-Finals

FC Barcelona delivered a commanding performance at the Camp Nou, defeating Newcastle United FC 7-2 to advance to the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals with an 8-3 aggregate victory.

The Spanish giants were inspired by standout displays from Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski, who both scored twice, while Fermín López, Lamine Yamal, and others contributed to a relentless attacking showcase that overwhelmed the Premier League side.

The encounter began as a highly competitive contest, with Newcastle, managed by Eddie Howe, showing early resilience. The visitors twice drew level in the first half through Anthony Elanga, responding to Barcelona’s opening goals and briefly keeping the tie finely balanced.

Barcelona struck first after capitalizing on defensive errors, as Raphinha finished a slick move involving López. Newcastle responded quickly, with Elanga converting from close range after a cross from Lewis Hall.

Momentum swung back and forth in an entertaining first half. Harvey Barnes played a key role in Newcastle’s second equaliser, setting up Elanga for another composed finish at the back post. However, Barcelona regained the lead just before halftime after VAR awarded a penalty for a foul by Kieran Trippier on Raphinha, which Lamine Yamal converted with composure.

The second half belonged entirely to Barcelona. López extended their lead early after being released by Raphinha, before Lewandowski took control of the contest. The experienced striker scored twice—first heading in from a Raphinha corner and then finishing clinically from open play—to effectively end Newcastle’s hopes of a comeback.

Barcelona continued to dominate possession and create chances, with Raphinha adding his second goal of the night after intercepting a poor pass from Newcastle midfielder Jacob Ramsey and finishing confidently to complete the rout.

The result underscores Barcelona’s strength in attack, midfield creativity, and Champions League experience, as they progress confidently into the quarter-finals. For Newcastle, the defeat highlights defensive frailties at the elite European level, despite flashes of attacking promise during the first half.

Barcelona will now await the outcome of the tie between Atlético Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur as they continue their quest for European glory.

UCL: Liverpool Crush Galatasaray to Set Up PSG Clash

Liverpool FC delivered a statement performance at Anfield, crushing Galatasaray S.K. 4-0 to book their place in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals after overturning a first-leg deficit.

Under pressure following inconsistent Premier League form, Arne Slot’s side responded in emphatic fashion, producing one of their most complete displays of the season to keep their European hopes alive.

Liverpool started with urgency and intensity, dominating possession and pinning Galatasaray deep inside their half. The visitors’ game plan was disrupted early when Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen suffered a forearm injury after a collision with Ibrahima Konaté. Although he continued briefly, he was eventually replaced by Leroy Sané, weakening Galatasaray’s attacking threat.

The breakthrough came in the 25th minute when Dominik Szoboszlai calmly finished from a well-worked set-piece routine, leveling the tie on aggregate and igniting the Anfield crowd.

Despite Liverpool’s dominance, Galatasaray remained in the contest before halftime, largely due to the heroics of goalkeeper Uğurcan Çakır. He denied Mohamed Salah in a one-on-one situation and later saved a penalty from the Egyptian forward, keeping the scoreline respectable at the break.

However, the second half saw Liverpool shift into another gear.

Salah quickly redeemed himself, delivering a precise assist for Hugo Ekitike to put the Reds ahead on aggregate. Moments later, Ryan Gravenberch reacted fastest to convert a rebound after Salah’s shot was parried, effectively sealing the tie.

Liverpool continued to dominate, and Salah capped the performance with a moment of brilliance—scoring his 50th Champions League goal with a stylish backheel finish from Florian Wirtz’s pass. The Egyptian forward also struck the crossbar before being substituted due to a minor injury concern.

The comprehensive victory sets up a high-profile quarter-final clash against defending champions Paris Saint-Germain, who advanced after dismantling Chelsea FC 8-2 on aggregate.

Managed by Luis Enrique, PSG present a formidable challenge, and Slot has already acknowledged the scale of the test ahead. The encounter also revives memories of last season’s dramatic knockout tie, where Liverpool were eliminated on penalties.

With their Champions League campaign back on track, Liverpool will now look to build momentum and turn their European resurgence into a defining moment in an otherwise inconsistent season.
