Just in: Helicopter crashes into building in Lagos
A helicopter on Tuesday afternoon crashed into a building in the heart of Lagos, causing serious panic among residents of the area.
The chopper was said to have burst into flames after cashing in a building compound at Oba Akran Ikeja area of Lagos.
The incident happened adjacent AP Filling Station, and United Bank For Africa, Oba Akran.
According to eyewitness, the incident happened at about 3.30pm.

It was not immediately clear if there are casualties from the incident.
No one could also say if pilots of the chopper and passengers survived.
Officers of the Lagos Fire Service, LASEMA, LASTMA and FAAN have all arrived at the scene

The Kogi State Police Command has reported the successful rescue of seven additional abducted students from the Confluence University of Science and Technology, Osara, bringing the total number of rescued students to 21 out of the 24 initially abducted.
SP Williams Aya, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), confirmed this development in a statement released on Thursday. He disclosed that the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, had deployed a specialized Air Component of Police Security Apparatus, including helicopter crews trained for aerial surveillance and a Technical Intelligence Unit (TIU), to support the ongoing rescue operation and combat criminal activities in the state.

Aya praised the combined efforts of the police and other security agencies, emphasizing their commitment to ensuring the safe rescue of all abducted students and bringing the perpetrators to justice. He also noted the satisfaction expressed by the Kogi State Government and the university community with the progress of the rescue operations.
The state Commissioner of Police, Benthrad Onuoha, lauded the IGP for the comprehensive deployment of security personnel and resources to address the situation effectively.
Additionally, unconfirmed reports indicated that the commander of the bandits responsible for the institution’s invasion was killed in a gun battle in the bush on Wednesday.

The troops of Operation Desert Sanity III, under Operation Hadin Kai, have successfully neutralized Mallam Muhammad, the prominent Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) commander overseeing Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Devices (VBIED) in Sambisa Forest.
Muhammad met his end on May 14 following strategic incursions into insurgent strongholds in Ukuba and Njimia, located in Bama Local Government Area.
The terrorist leader operated a significant fabrication workshop producing various types of explosives, including Person-Borne Improvised Explosive Devices (PBIED), VBIEDs, and Roadside Borne Improvised Explosive Devices (RSBIEDs).

Notorious for conscripting underage children and indoctrinating them with promises of paradise, Muhammadu was to have used his own three children as human bombs.
Intelligence sources told security analyst and counter insurgency expert, Zagazola Makama, that the troops also intercepted a vehicle that was already armed with explosive which was designed to target advancing troops.

Scores of students at Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile-Ife, Osun state, were injured on Thursday, May 16, when rain and a whirlwind caused the collapse of the Amphitheatre ceiling.
A source revealed that two students were in critical condition following the collapse at Oduduwa Hall.
Confirming the incident, the Public Relations Officer of the University, Abiodun Olarewaju, said: “Rainfall with whirlwind affected the ceiling of the Amphitheatre as it fell off and injured a few of the students.
