IN the spirit of good neighbourliness, Dangote Cement Plc, Ibese has donated multi-million Naira worth of electrical items to some neighbouring communities around its operation in Ibese, in Yewa North Local Government, Ogun State, to enable the communities reconnect to the national grid and have their power supply restored.

Meanwhile, the Ogun State House of Assembly has promptly commended the Cement factory, for rising to the occasion and delivering the electrical materials needed to restore power to the affected communities; thus fulfilling its promises after being notified of the plight of the communities.
Items donated by the Ibese Plant management led by the Plant’s Head of Social Performance, Ademola Ojolowo, included 1,200 metres of Aluminium conductor steel-reinforced cable (ACSR), 20 High Tension (HT) Poles, 40 pieces of Pot insulator, and ten (10) pairs of tie straps.
The items were presented to the communities at the constituent office of Adegoke Adeyanju Awoso, Ogun State House of Assembly member representing Yewa North State Constituency 1 and this handover was witnessed by various stakeholder groups across the ten (10) benefitting communities and the officials of Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC).

He reiterated the company’s commitment to the sustainable development of its host communities and continued collaboration on initiatives geared towards the general wellbeing of the people.
In his response, Adegoke Adeyanju, who spoke on behalf of the benefitting communities, expressed delight with the donation of the electrical items and urged the IBEDC officials to ensure that the installation was carried without further delay. He commended the Management of DCP for coming to the aid of the communities at this critical period, and promised to continue to work for promotion of peace and tranquillity in the communities for the greater good of his people.
The joy on the faces of the people on sighting the electrical items was palpable as it rekindled their hope of enjoying power supply going forward especially during the forthcoming Yuletide season.
Reacting to the development on the floor of the Ogun State House of Assembly, the Speaker, Kunle Oluomo commended the management of Dangote Cement Plc for being sensitive to the plight of the people in its host communities, saying the House was very proud of the foremost cement company.
The speaker made the commendation, while responding to the presentation of Hon. Adeyanju, who enjoined the Management of the company to continue in the spirt of good neighbourliness, and assured that the House would be on the same page with the company to ensure that peace reigns supreme in the host communities.
Earlier, Adeyanju had informed the Assembly on the need to appreciate the cement giant for fulfilling its promise towards contributing to re-energise the communities that had been thrown into darkness following the damage caused by truck drivers to electrical installations in the area.

Kano bakers summoned over bread price hike
Muhyi Magaji Rimin Gado, Chairman of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC), summoned flour dealers from Singer Market and the chairman of the bakers’ association over what he described as an arbitrary bread price increase in the state.
He issued a stern warning to the state’s bakers against arbitrary bread price increases.
Rimin Gado reported that the commission has received numerous consumer complaints about high bread prices, despite a decrease in flour costs.

The price of flour, a key ingredient in bread production, has dropped to around N63,000 from N70,000.
At a press briefing in Kano, Rimin Gado stressed that the PCACC has a dual mandate; combating corruption and serving as an ombudsman. He stated that it will not remain passive in the face of unjustified price hikes on essential goods.
“We have been monitoring price increases for essential items and investigating whether these increases are justified. We are also identifying those responsible for any arbitrary price hikes,” Rimin Gado explained.
He assured that the commission will take necessary legal actions to address the rising cost of bread.
