Leeds United Stun Chelsea 3-1 at Elland Road to Climb Out of Relegation Zone
Leeds United delivered a remarkable performance on Wednesday night, defeating Chelsea 3-1 at Elland Road to climb out of the Premier League relegation zone. The newly-promoted side impressed from start to finish, capitalising on a Chelsea team that struggled to find rhythm.
Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca made five changes from the side that drew 2-2 with Arsenal on Sunday, introducing Benoit Badiashile, Tosin Adarabioyo, Bryan Gittens, Andrey Santos, and Liam Delap into the starting lineup.
Leeds struck early when Jaka Bijol’s glancing header put the hosts ahead in the seventh minute. Japanese midfielder Ao Tanaka doubled the lead before halftime, leaving the visitors chasing the game.

Substitute Pedro Neto pulled one back for Chelsea in the 50th minute, but the London side failed to build momentum. Leeds restored their two-goal cushion in the 72nd minute after a costly error from Tosin Adarabioyo, gifting Dominic Calvert-Lewin an easy tap-in.
It was a disappointing outing for the Blues, who slipped to fourth on the Premier League table, while the crucial victory lifted Leeds United to 17th.
Elsewhere in the Premier League, Aston Villa edged Brighton 4-3, Arsenal defeated Brentford 2-0, Nottingham Forest secured a tight 1-0 win over Wolves, and Crystal Palace beat Burnley 1-0. At Anfield, Liverpool were held to a 1-1 draw by Sunderland, leaving the defending champions in eighth place with 22 points from 14 matches.

Casemiro Set to Leave Manchester United as Contract Nears Expiry
Casemiro Set to Leave Manchester United as Contract Nears Expiry
Manchester United have confirmed that Casemiro will leave Old Trafford at the end of the 2025/26 season, marking the end of the Brazilian midfielder’s four-year spell with the club.
The decision follows United’s choice not to activate the one-year extension clause in Casemiro’s contract, as the club moves ahead with a squad rebuild aimed at reducing wages and refreshing the midfield. The 33-year-old joined United from Real Madrid in 2022 and quickly became a key figure in the dressing room and on the pitch.
In an emotional message to fans, Casemiro thanked the club and supporters for their backing, saying he would carry “eternal respect” for Manchester United while remaining fully committed for the rest of the season.

During his time at United, Casemiro made over 140 appearances, scoring crucial goals and playing a central role in the club’s recent silverware, including the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup. His leadership and experience were particularly vital during United’s return to the UEFA Champions League.
The Brazilian’s exit comes amid wider changes at the club, with Manchester United planning a summer midfield revamp as they push to remain competitive domestically and in Europe. Reports suggest Casemiro could attract interest from Saudi Arabia, Major League Soccer (MLS) or a return to Brazil, where his experience remains highly valued.
Despite his impending departure, United sources say Casemiro is focused on finishing the campaign strongly as the club battles for Premier League positioning and European qualification.
