Peller Faces Backlash Over Claim His ₦100m Savings Are Off-Limits
Peller Faces Backlash Over Claim His ₦100m Savings Are Off-Limits
Nigerian content creator Habeeb Hamzat, popularly known as Peller, has stirred widespread reactions online after revealing that his ₦100 million savings is strictly off-limits, even during serious family emergencies.
The viral statement was made during a conversation with skit maker Sir Balo, where both discussed money management, savings culture, and financial discipline. Peller explained that he operates a rigid personal rule, insisting he never allows his account balance to fall below ₦100 million under any circumstance.
According to him, maintaining this financial threshold is non-negotiable. He stated that even in extreme situations involving family, he would not touch the funds. Instead, he emphasized his preference for generating fresh income through paid promotions, brand deals, and other revenue streams whenever urgent financial needs arise.
The comment quickly gained traction across social media platforms, sparking a mix of admiration, criticism, and humor. Supporters applauded his financial discipline and long-term thinking, noting that such a mindset is rare among young Nigerians navigating a challenging economic environment. Many argued that his approach reflects a growing awareness around wealth preservation and financial independence.

On the other hand, critics described his stance as overly rigid and lacking empathy, especially within the Nigerian context where extended family responsibilities are deeply rooted. In many cases, individuals are expected to step in financially during crises such as medical emergencies, education needs, or unforeseen hardships. For critics, Peller’s position appears to conflict with these long-standing cultural expectations.
Some social media users also questioned the practicality of maintaining such a strict rule, arguing that emergencies often require immediate liquidity rather than future income plans. Others took a lighter approach, responding with humor and sarcasm, suggesting that family members might now need “financial approval” before receiving help.
The controversy has since evolved into a broader conversation about the balance between personal financial boundaries and social obligations. In a country where institutional safety nets are limited, family support often plays a critical role in survival. Peller’s statement has therefore highlighted the tension between modern financial independence and traditional communal values.
Beyond the debate, some observers believe the remark could also serve as a strategic branding move, reinforcing his image as a disciplined and financially savvy influencer. Meanwhile, others see it as part of a larger shift among Gen Z Nigerians, who are increasingly prioritizing structured savings habits and financial security over societal pressure.
As reactions continue to pour in, Peller’s comment has clearly struck a nerve, raising important questions about money, responsibility, and cultural expectations in today’s Nigeria.

Peter Okoye Officially Changes Birthday Date Amid Renewed Tension in P-Square Family Rift
Peter Okoye Officially Changes Birthday Date Amid Renewed Tension in P-Square Family Rift
Nigerian music star, Peter Okoye, has sparked widespread reactions after announcing that he has officially changed the date he celebrates his birthday, a move that comes amid the long-running family and music industry dispute involving his twin brother, Mr P.
In a post shared on his X (formerly Twitter) account on Monday, the singer stated that November 18 would no longer serve as his birthday celebration date and informed fans that he would now be marking a new date going forward.
“I am officially changing my birthday date. I’m making it official. November 18th is no longer my birthday celebration date. Please note that I will not be accepting any messages or gifts on that day,” he wrote.
He added that his new official birthday celebration date would now be November 30, describing the decision as personal and asking fans for understanding.
“My birthday will now be celebrated on November 30th. This is a personal decision, and I truly appreciate your understanding,” he added.

The singer did not provide further explanation for the change, but the announcement has reignited conversations about the ongoing tensions within the P-Square family.
Peter Okoye rose to fame as one half of the iconic music duo P-Square, alongside his twin brother Paul Okoye (Rudeboy). The duo dominated African music charts throughout the 2000s and early 2010s with multiple hit songs and sold-out performances across the continent.
However, internal disputes began to surface around 2015, largely tied to disagreements over management, royalties, and creative control. Their elder brother, Jude Okoye, who previously managed the group, was also central to the business-related tensions that deepened the rift.
By 2017, the group officially disbanded, with both brothers pursuing solo careers under the names Mr P and Rudeboy. The split marked one of the most publicised celebrity breakups in Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
Although the twins reunited in November 2021, exciting fans across Africa and beyond, reports later emerged suggesting that underlying issues—particularly around financial transparency and business structures—had not been fully resolved.
Peter’s latest announcement has therefore been interpreted by fans as another sign of emotional and symbolic distance within the family dynamic, even as he continues his solo music career.
As of press time, neither Paul Okoye nor other members of the Okoye family have issued an official response to the development.
The announcement has continued to generate debate online, with fans expressing mixed reactions over whether the move is purely personal or linked to deeper unresolved issues within the P-Square legacy.

Marriage Drama: Roby Ekpo Claims 11-Year Union Ended in Pain, Childlessness
Nigerian media personality Roby Ekpo has shared disturbing details about his failed marriage to colleague Mayowa Lambe, alleging emotional neglect, financial strain, and long-term marital breakdown that lasted over a decade.
The controversy began after reports surfaced that Mayowa Lambe had remarried in the United States, reportedly marking her third marriage. The development shocked many, including Ekpo, who publicly reacted on social media expressing surprise over the news and the state of their relationship.
Speaking in an interview with media personality Daddy Freeze, Ekpo gave a detailed account of what he described as years of emotional pain during the marriage. He alleged that while he remained committed to the union, his wife was emotionally distant and uninvested in the relationship.
Ekpo claimed that despite the long-distance nature of the marriage, he consistently supported her financially. According to him, whenever he earned about ₦500,000 from jobs in Nigeria, he would send roughly ₦200,000 to Mayowa in the United States, believing they were still building a stable marriage together. He said he did this for years under the impression that the relationship was intact.

He further alleged that the marriage produced no children after 11 years, a situation he described as deeply painful. Ekpo claimed that while he desired children, Mayowa allegedly avoided pregnancy during their time together, which contributed to his emotional distress. He also said he is now 48 years old and childless as a result of the relationship.
The media personality also expressed frustration over what he described as emotional rejection and lack of affection. He alleged that whenever his wife visited Nigeria, she avoided physical intimacy, including basic gestures such as hugging or kissing, further deepening the strain in the marriage.

Ekpo also accused his estranged wife of speaking negatively about him during the marriage, claiming she gradually withdrew emotionally and became increasingly critical of him over time.
To support his claims, Ekpo shared alleged private messages said to be from Mayowa Lambe. In the chat excerpts, she reportedly expressed deep dissatisfaction with the marriage, accusing him of emotional neglect, lack of support, and intimacy issues.
In the alleged messages, she was quoted as saying she felt emotionally drained and unhappy, describing the relationship as stressful and unfulfilling. She reportedly stated that she had been “coping with unsatisfying sex for almost three years” and no longer wished to continue in the marriage.
The messages also included strong emotional expressions, where she allegedly referred to the marriage as a “mistake” and expressed frustration over what she described as ongoing emotional stress and lack of fulfillment.
Ekpo said he broke down emotionally while reading the messages during the interview, insisting that he had remained committed to the marriage while feeling increasingly neglected.
The revelations have sparked widespread debate online, with many Nigerians discussing issues surrounding marital breakdown, long-distance relationships, emotional compatibility, and financial expectations in marriage.
However, the situation remains largely one-sided publicly, as Mayowa Lambe has not issued any response to the allegations or confirmed details surrounding her reported remarriage at the time of this report.
The story continues to generate strong reactions across social media, highlighting the complexities of modern marriages and the emotional challenges that can arise when communication breaks down over time.

Juwon Adewunmi Sparks Debate Over Transparency, Infidelity in Marriage
Yoruba Nollywood actress Juwon Adewunmi has sparked conversation on relationships and fidelity after revealing the unusual arrangement she shares with her husband regarding infidelity.
Speaking during an interview on the Talk to B Podcast, the actress disclosed that her husband does not conceal his extramarital affairs but instead openly admits them to her.
According to Adewunmi, her husband makes it a point to confess whenever he has been involved with another woman and seeks her forgiveness afterward. She explained that he often goes a step further by confirming that she has genuinely forgiven him before moving on.
“Just like Nigerian men, white men also cheat, and I have caught my husband several times,” she said. “However, the difference is that whenever my husband sleeps with another woman, he will tell me and beg me.
