Sanusi: I warned Buhari govt its policies will destroy Nigeria’s economy

Former Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II

Former Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II, has said he warned the President Muhammadu Buhari administration that its economic policies would destroy Nigeria’s economy.

He also lamented the current state of the nation, saying Nigeria would  not be where it is if public office holders had taken their job seriously.

The former emir, who spoke in Lagos at a stage play titled “Emir Sanusi: Truth in Time”, said every inherent danger in the economic polices he had warned the administration when he newly came on board in 2015/2016 was what the country was facing currently.

The former Kano Emir recalled how he wrote a confidential letter to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan as the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) governor voicing his strong concerns about the economy.

“If every president, every governor, every minister, every commissioner took their job seriously, this country will not be where it was,” he stated.

“If people are willing to be ministers, commissioners, governors and presidents for eight years, and not tell us how they have improved our lives, we have a problem.”

Sanusi asked Nigerians to take charge of the country, he said Africa’s most populous nation will not move forward until actual steps are taken.

The ex-CBN governor also spoke on why he usually criticises government policies he found not to be good enough, saying what many do not know is that he would have advised the officials privately for months before going public.

On the current administration, Sanusi said he warned the Federal Government of the dangers of its policies in 2015, especially how it would destroy the economy.

“With the current administration, I spent the whole of 2015 and 2016 speaking to everybody who should be communicated to, and telling them that the economic policies they were pursuing were going to destroy the Nigerian economy.

“It was only when that failed that I spoke publicly, and we had to speak. Now the question which everybody is asking is should an Emir speak? The answer is yes and it depends on what you are speaking on,” he added.

According to Sanusi, he served as Chief Risk Officer at the United Bank for Africa, at First Bank, and also as CBN governor; as Emir of Kano for six years.

He stated that he would be ungrateful to God if he expressed regret or sadness over his removal as emir despite his position in life.

Reno Omokri and Haruna Goroh

Omokri has been paid to go after Obi – Haruna Goroh

Reno Omokri, a former aide to ex-president Goodluck Jonathan, has been accused of being bankrolled by the President Bola Tinubu-led administration to repeatedly attack Peter Obi.

According to a statement by Dr. Haruna Goroh, a social media influencer, he alleged that the way Omokri is “obsessed about discrediting Obi and legitimizing” Tinubu’s administration shows “what he is doing is now his full-time job.”

Goroh’s statement was in reaction to a statement by the former presidential aide who offered $10,000 to Peter Obi and his followers to “substantiate their now-viral claim that @waecnigeria deleted a post proving that Peter Obi took Anambra to Number One in education.”

Omokri, a firm critic of Obi, had said that “WAEC did not delete any posts. Their post is still on their X handle. What happened is that WAEC posted a link to a YouTube video from someone else. The video was not from them. Please fact-check me: WAEC does not have a YouTube video.

“The YouTube video itself was flagged for fraud by YouTube and pulled down. It has nothing to do with WAEC.”

Reacting to the former presidential aide’s statement, Goroh alleged that Omokri had already been given a job by Tinubu, which was not made public.

He alleged that Omokri’s obsession “about discrediting Obi” follows his desire to satisfy his paymasters.

“I am now convinced that Reno is being paid to go after Obi. I used to think that he was attacking Peter Obi to be noticed and given an appointment by Tinubu,” Goroh said.

“I think he was already given the appointment, but they did not make it public because of the nature of the work he’s expected to do.

“The way that Reno is obsessed with discrediting Obi and legitimizing Agbado’s regime, I am sure that what he is doing is now his full-time job.

“The way that Reno is devoting so much time to digging out things to discredit Obi, he must be doing it as his paid full-time job,” he added.

Describing Tinubu as a political “guru,” Goroh said, “Tinubu is a guru when it comes to paying money to get what he wants. Reno is offering a monetary reward to people who have proof or evidence that will clear Peter Obi of what he is accusing him of.

“Where is Reno getting the money from? The same Reno that once exposed all the lies that surround Tinubu has forgotten all that because of what he is getting from Tinubu.

“I am not Igbo, nor am I sponsored by Obi or the Labour Party to speak for them. If my assertions are wrong, then Reno should stop saying anything about Obi for a month, and I will be convinced that he is not sponsored by Agbado Master.”

Goroh further mentioned that “Omokri keeps attacking the Obidients as if they are the ones behind Nigeria’s problems. Tinubu stole the elections and is ruling with a mandate that was not given by the people.

“The Obidients were not mobilized by Obi. They are the young people of Nigeria who are tired of these political thieves who have wreaked havoc on their country.

“They only saw one person who possessed the qualities needed to bring about that desperately desired change, and that person was Obi. The obidient are not only from the Igbo of Southeast extraction but are from all over Nigeria.

“What Reno is doing is what I call a deliberate diversionary tactic of this regime—to take the attention of Nigerians away from the evil of Tinubu’s regime.

“Nigerians are not fools; they are seeing what is happening. You can’t oppress the people forever; one day, they will push back.”

Confession of 85-year-old monarch: I intended killing my son, use boy parts for ritual

The police in Lagos, recently, recorded a breakthrough by arresting 10 members of suspected criminals who specialize in exhuming body parts from cemeteries and killing human beings for rituals.

Among the arrested suspects was an 85-year-old traditional ruler in Benin Republic, Yusuf Lawal Muse, the son of a pastor said to be the kingpin, Ademola Akinlosota, 33, an Ifa priest, Sunday Badonu, aka Osekure, 25, his father, Vijamiya Badonu, an idol priest and Osetura’s father, Dada Trival, 33, Bale of Akalekumo in Badagry, Hunsu Segun,35, Balogun in Ogboni fraternity, Badagry, Amodu Wahab, aka Alhaji Bororo, 58, specialists in collecting human parts both fresh and dry, Kamolu Aderibigbe, 44, a trade-medical doctor in Ijedfodo and Muyibat Adesina, 49, the herbalist who uses human parts to prepare concoctions for people.

Crime Guard learned that the traditional ruler, Yusuf Lawal Muse is from Diasou in Benin Republic and is married to six women with 21 children. He reportedly relocated to Ibatefin-Ikpoka in Ogun state and later to Adodo in a same Ogun state where he lived with his wives and children until his arrest.

He told our reporter that he relocated to Ogun state after losing about 14 children in his domain and later married a new wife who gave birth to the son he wanted to kill and use his body parts.

His confession

The octogenarian told reporters that after getting married to their new wife, he wanted to have fun only to discover that she was already pregnant. According to him, I had no other alternative than to accept the child after birth and I named him Musa. While growing up, he became a torn in my flesh.

“He was into a lot of criminal activities, very stubborn, stealing, and even threatening to kill me. The whole thing came to a climax after he learnt that I wrote a will and excluded him. He then openly resorted to threatening to take my life. That was why I engaged people to kill him first and send his head, heart, fingers and hands to me for herbal purposes.

“Unfortunately, after I contracted the people, they met with an Idol Priest whom I had planned to do business with in the past who, not only discouraged the people I hired but also leaked the plan to my son’s mother. On hearing this, his mother fled to another town with him and we were still discussing the issue when the police arrested me.”

Regrets

Looking remorseful, the octogenarian told Crime Guard,” I regret what I planned to do to my son. I have now realized that he is my son and he will bear children tomorrow in my name. My greatest worry now is that my people in Benin Republic have heard this ugly story. I am afraid they may dethrone me. I just don’t know what next to do than to appeal to God to forgive me.”

However, while the traditional ruler was confessing to the team of policemen from Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Special Squad Team 3, led by DSP Toyin Omosebi, it was learned that the leader of the ritualist’s gang, Ademola Akinlosotu, 33, son of a Pastor, opened up stating that he was the person contracted by the traditional ruler to kill his son. He reportedly also stated that before then, they were taking dismembered body parts, both dry and fresh, to the traditional ruler after killing their victims.
