Comedian and Professor, Helen Paul has shared her heartbreaking childhood story which centers on her being born out of rape.

Speaking at a recent event, Helen revealed that her mother got pregnant with her after being r@ped. Recounting how she went to live with her grandmother after she was born, the comedian recalled not being shown love by her mother’s family members.

According to her, those who gave her grandmother money would always tell the woman to use the money for herself and not for Helen, who was born out of rape. She also recalled how her grandmother told her to ensure she becomes successful as no one will look towards her if she’s nothing.

Recounting how she got her name “Helen”, she disclosed that it was a cleric who advised her mother to give her the name of the first person that showed her mercy after her daughter was born.

Speaking about how she got her surname, Helen said her aunties asked her grandmother not to give her their family name.

She further revealed that a man eventually asked them to give her his name.

Helen Paul has now moved on from all she faced, to becoming a successful comedian in Nigeria and a Professor in the United States.

Popular Nollywood actress and filmmaker Mercy Aigbe has shared insights into her decision to marry popular movie marketer Kazim Adeoti, also known as Adekaz.

Speaking as a guest on Nollywood on Radio, Aigbe revealed that having a partner within the entertainment industry was a significant factor in her choice.

“One of the reasons I married him is that we’re both in the same industry,” Aigbe explained. “Together, we’re building a production empire. I just felt I needed someone in the industry to collaborate with, and it’s a good thing that he understands it too. Combining our strengths, the future looks promising.

Aigbe’s 2023 cinema movie, Ada Omo Daddy, has already showcased the synergy between her and Adeoti, marking her successful cinema debut. Reflecting on the project’s reception, she said, “The feedback was amazing. I was a bit nervous as it was my first cinema debut, and there was heavy competition from established names in the cinema sector. But I was confident because I knew I had a sellable product.”

 Aigbe also added that her intention is to be on all platforms she can make money from.

“I wont just be on cinemas I will be on all paltforms I can make money from”

Popular actress and filmmaker Eniola Ajao recently shared a harrowing experience on Nollywood on Radio, a show dedicated to Nigerian cinema.

She revealed the emotional toll that false news online had taken on her mental health, describing how she once nearly poisoned herself in response to a hurtful rumour.

“I almost poisoned myself because there was news about me online that was far from true,” Ajao said. “It was the first time in my life that I faced something so painful. I didn’t eat for seven straight days. People around me can testify – I didn’t go anywhere.”

At the time, she was in the midst of planning her next film, a process that became increasingly difficult due to her emotional state. “My sisters were calling, telling me, ‘You have to do this for yourself. You don’t have to poison yourself.’ My son was reaching out to everyone, saying I was struggling with this lie online,” she shared.

The actress added, “I don’t even want to remember those things, honestly”, she recounted on the show.
