A Police Inspector, Nkwa Nnamdi, attached to 23 Police Mobile Force, Keffi, Lagos State, has been arrested and detained for being in possession of a car snatched at gunpoint.

This was after an unregistered Toyota Camry saloon car snatched at gunpoint was found in his possession.

Incidentally, the car was reported stolen by an Assistant Superintendent of Police, M. Alamutu, attached to 2 PMF, Keffi, Lagos State.

The car belonged to Alamutu’s younger brother, Daniel Ayomide, and was snatched at gunpoint on April 22.

When Inspector Nnamdi was questioned on how he got the car, he claimed that the vehicle was handed over to him by a man he simply identified as Evans at Eternal Filling Station, Iju Road, Lagos State for him to drive the vehicle to Benin in Edo State.

A Situation Report stated: “On 23rd of April at about 4pm, an information was received from ASP Alamutu attached to 2PMF Keffi Lagos, that his younger brother namely, Daniel Ayomide unregistered Toyota Camry s/car white colour was stolen on gun point on the 22rd of April 2024 at about 8:30pm, was sighted along Iju road.”

Policeman chops off wife’s hand over N20,000  dispute

An Inspector of Police, whose name is yet to be ascertained, has allegedly cut off his wife’s hand over what was confirmed as “a minor disagreement over N20,000”, Vanguard is reporting.

According to sources familiar with the incident, the pregnant wife of the Inspector of Police is still in the hospital.

Vanguard News said it gathered the Inspector left the money at home in the Dong area of Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.

By the time he returned to take the money, it was no longer where he left it, leading to an argument between him and his wife.

In the heat of the argument, he reportedly harmed his wife.

He has since been arrested and detained at the Plateau State Police Command Criminal Investigation Department.

The spokesman of the Plateau State Police Command, Alfred Alabo, confirmed the development to Vanguard News.

“The man is an Inspector.

“Right now, he is at the State CID and the investigation is ongoing.

“He had a minor misunderstanding with his wife over some money.

“They had an argument over some N20,000 he kept in the house and he said he was looking for the money to do something and an argument ensued.

“The case is under investigation.”

A neighbour, who asked not to be named, also told Vanguard News: “The wife is pregnant.

“She refused to give the man N3,000 from N20,000.

“The argument was heated and before we knew it, the man cut off her hand.

“No one can say why he did that but we are concerned about her.

“She was rushed to a hospital.”

Troops from the Nigeria Army’s 93 Battalion Sub-Sector 3B Operation Whirl Stroke at Fikyu cleared a terrorist base and recovered one AK-47 magazine with ten rounds of 7.62MM special ammunition in Taraba State.

The accomplishment came after people reported suspected terrorists firing intermittently in the Pukun village of Fikyu in the Ussa Local Government Area of the state on Monday, April 29.

Oni Olubodunde, the acting assistant director of 6 Brigade Army Public Relations, issued the following statement:

Similarly, troops deployed to Kofai Ammadu and Kasuwan Haske, in collaboration with troops from Sub-Sector 1A OPWS, acted on intelligence regarding the hideout of terrorists in Vingir Village of Katsina-Ala Local Government Area, Benue State, and arrested a suspected kidnapper Dogo Manu.

According to the statement, troops of 20 Model Battalion Sub-Sector 3A OPWS, while on night patrol around Gangdanbana and Kwanar Maliki in Bali Local Government Area on 27 April 2024 apprehended one Junaidu Isiaka with four sacks of substance suspected to be cannabis sativa.

The suspect has been on the watchlist of security agencies for his involvement in illegal drug deals and supplies to terrorists and other criminal elements operating within the general area.

The operation according to the Nigeria Army highlights the commitment and dedication of the troops in combating terrorism and all forms of criminality while ensuring the safety and security of the citizens.

“The Nigerian Army remains resolute in its efforts to rid the region of criminal elements and restore peace and stability, not just in Taraba but the nation as a whole,” the statement added.
